United are 2nd, 3 points ahead of Chelsea, 5 points ahead of Liverpool, 6 points ahead of Arsenal and 7 points ahead of Spurs, you'd think we were miles behind everyone the way some of you are going on. There's a reason why 70 points is the most we've achieved in the last 4 years.

LVG & Moyes spent over £320m on players which would probably equate to about £500m in todays market and there's only one top class player bought out of that lot in Martial. The pair of them wasted a fortune.

We're a work in progress and clearly we're a better team than last year but United are still a few players short.

Is buying players the only solution now, is it fair to say managers are no longer expected to make players better? Are the days of an obscure buy now well and truly behind us?

Yeah that’s what I wa thinking when you often hear “he doesent have his own team” about top level managers. What happened to coaching up players that have deficiencies & improving what you have ? Surely that’s the sign of a great manager?

I'd say the managers are well capable of doing this and to an extent still do but to be fair in the modern game they are not given much time to do this. Results are demanded immediately and if they don't appear the manager is at a risk of getting fired.

I thought Seanie was going a bit OTT on Mourinho, at the end of the day they are in second place, in the last 16 of Europe, and won two trophies last year including a European trophy. I'd love that at Liverpool, put it like that.

However yesterday I thought United were afraid of City. I've not seen that in a long time, since Moyes certainly. And never with Ferguson. They looked way more dangerous when they went behind both times, which to me indicates that the game plan was needlessly conservative.

And then to read the nonsense afterwards in the City dressing room. That's mental stuff.

Ye have the opposite problem at Liverpool - a manager who doesn't seem to interested in setting up or organising a defence. But by God does he let his attackers go out and express themselves.

Mourinho was a bad fit for United. Never should have been let in the gate. I just hope when he decides to walk out that the bungling board can find a far more suitable replacement with the character and bravery to manage this club. He was put in as a quick fix and rarely do quick fixes work. This will not work.

Last year he won a few trophies and got Utd back in the Champions League so in terms of a 'quick fix' it has already worked. Long term who knows but I do share your frustration on how he sets up against the other top 6ish teams. We will see plenty more of this type of tactics in the now knock out stages of Europe..

Not that disappointing as I would of been surprised to get much from the game as City have shown themselves to be the best in the league but could of had a draw in the end. Seems it is the battle to see who is the best of the rest!

Get in. 1-0

Keep with the program fella, everyone will be on at half time now to say Everton will surely get an equaliser.

Na. That's only when they are 3-0 up.

Strange selection by Klopp. Injuries or rotation?

Manchester United's possible Champions League last 16 opponents:

Real Madrid
Bayern Munich
Juventus
Porto
Shakhtar
Sevilla

Quite a variation!

Back in 1998 Liz O'Donnell,  Junior Minister, Dublin 4 type PD, was involved in the talks then. Beforehand she was all blather about being nice to Unionists etc.
She changed her tune after a few dealings with them (and that was the UUP).
Good to see Leo learning a bit about the North Eastern parts of his own Country though.

He knows how to deal with intolerant feckers. An openly gay Irish nationalist Taoiseach out-manueuring them and tying the north to the south irreversibly is the stuff of nightmares for the DUP.

The post gym photo in the salmon Under Armour Vest would have absolutely horrified Arlene and Nigel.

Jeffrey's wee heart may have skipped a beat though!!

I LOL'd at that. Good job Paul Berry is long gone from the DUP.

We only went to the one at Milford in Armagh as it was for charity. All those other ones are a racket and wouldn't give them my money.

Good for you. :)

Bunch of corrupt middle class unionists continue to stoke up hate and fear among working class protestants in order to sustain the status quo. This despite the opportunity to overhaul and transform the northern economy. Keeping the working class subservient whilst they continue to stay in power drawing on the big salaries and involving themselves in the shady business deals for themselves. They are playing their own community like fiddles to line their own pockets. The smugness etched on the faces of Jeffrey Donaldson and Nigel Dodds as they lined up alongside Arlene Foster yesterday was telling as they revel in their newly found power which is totally disproprtionate to their actual mandate.

I actually thought they looked well rattled. Arlene in particular looked concerned. The writing is on the wall and they know it. They are like rats in a corner....

Jeffrey Donaldson triumphally scolded Leo Varadkar on twitter yesterday stating that they refused to be dicatated to. Smugness personified is Jeffrey. Choosing to ignore the fact that it was his own British government who had agreed to the deal yet he couldn't resist misdirecting attention to the Irish government. They know that they have scuppered a good deal for the country but want to try and push the blame for it elsewhere.

They have scuppered nothing, only delayed it by a few days....

Had my 3 at Santa's cottage in Hilltown near Newry on Sunday. Was brilliant and their attention to detail was amazing.

Going there next week, so glad to hear it was good.

It was first class but arrive well before your time as it can be busy.

Just looked back through my messages and realised I had a few PM conversations with him about his car. Seemed a nice guy. RIP.
