GAA Discussion / Re: Quality of O'Neill's Footballs
September 21, 2007, 10:17:46 AM
It's definitely true. I purchase the balls for my club and we are spending a fortune these past few years on new balls. They don't last any length. They go out of shape very quickly and do not retain the firmness of a new ball. As far as i know they are made in far east (of world, not ireland).
Looks like a deliberate thing to me to sell more balls.

No he wouldn't! Absolutely not. I have to say he was on a glory trip all the way, he used the position to get his present appointment, nice cushy one too.
Liam O Neill impressed me early on but I think he too is of similar stock. Talented alright but wouldn't go for him.
This job requires somebody who can work effectively behind the scenes, work with a multitude of committees and keep them all on side and on track.
Should be somebody with as much experience as possible in the Association; as a player, as a club administrator, as a county offiical even possibly an inter county player / manager.
Essential he understands what makes the GAA tick and the importance of the club as mucha s the county.
Three people spring to mind.
Paraic Duffy, Eugene Young, Christy Cooney.

You should set up a Leinster minor club championship (the way St Pauls do in Belfast), if there's not one already.  It'd be great for Brigid's, and a great boost to the local economy, can you imagine if you let a few of them Longford young boys loose up around the shopping centre, they'd buy the place out!!

The Eire Og Club in Carlow has been running such a tournament very successfully for the past 4 years. They had been hampered by a rule which limits tourrnaments to 8 teams but were successful at Congress in getting this changed. They will be organising it again this winter.

Eire Og Minors are usually very strong and would be good for challenge games, try contact them through Terry Coffey 087 6187081 or contact the club 059 9143951.
