Was at both Tipp McGrath Cup games and wasn`t impressed . Lacked fitness and sharpness . Very surprised to see them as favorites . That said they were missing many of last years players and tried out some new lads , however was shocked at how unfit they were compared to Cork and Kerry !

I couldnt believe that following them two games armagh who were joint favourites drifted while we stayed the same. We have been lucky with the fixtures, two home games against two precieved weaker teams. If we can get two wins we'll be right in there. Kearns has been saying how league isnt a priority and as you say we were miles off in the mcgrath cup games. People are saying antrim arent in a good place, i think they are a brilliant value bet next weekend at 9/2, we have started the last few league campaigns poorly and are missing a few due to injuries, suspension and just not wanting to overwork a couple who have been dealing with injuries the last few years and are being given a break, Couple of the players only joined back up with the panel mid january too as they were on holiday so they havent had long to get up to pace. Hopefully we do have enough class to pull through till we reach the level we need to be at. I expect one of longford or offaly to be challenging for promotion too along with oursleves (hopefully), laois and armagh

The players who looked good in those games were Foxy and Kiely , 2 regulars and Liam McGrath v Cork , disappointed with the lack of hunger from the new lads bar Liam Boland . Badger wasn`t too bad but missing the sharpness . Armagh and Laois meet in the second round so we could be in a strong position come the Laois game !

Eyrecourt , trading as Meelick Eyrecourt, has 292 in the parish. I think the legendary Brendan Lynshkey who played for Galway in the 80s was from the club.

Might have been a legend on the pitch but as ignorant a bollox you could meet off it.

Heard that a long time ago .

Yeah, was there some chat about the O'Riordans transferring to Killea recently? I remember Hamill as a minor centre back being from Killea, and then moving on. Pity for them, but I suppose he's thinking of playing senior hurling.

They have nice facilities there, pitch and dressing rooms, for a junior B club with such small numbers. We used them a couple of times for challenges when Offaly come down.

Seemly 3 of them looked to and it was sanctioned but the Transfer Form wasn`t returned !

Knock , just outside Roscrea , play in the Mid Tipp Division . The Parish is Kyle and Knock but most of the Parish ( Kyle and Ballaghmore are in Laois , where Kyle is the GAA Club ) . Very small catchment area !

Killea, outside templemore, must be very small in Tipp terms as well.

True , both play Junior B . Colin O`Riordan is from Killea but played with Brackens . And Tom Hamill was with Killea but now with Moyne Templetouhy .

Arles Kilcruise are a very small club in Laois and one of the better senior teams.

Why is there 2 Clubs in Arles , was there a falling out  ?

This McGrath cup thread is already as long as a Munster championship thread.. ;D

Tipp could have a big win in Tralee with the teams named today. It's a Kerry u21 team missing a lot of players and Tipp look fairly strong.

Looks at scoreline - first yerra of 2017.

I'd imagine Kerry will be very short favs for the U21 championship.

The difference in fitness and sharpness between the 2 sides was evident , Tipp haven`t played any friendlies up to this . Only Foxy and Kiely were anyway near there best . A lot of new faces for Tipp today , lack of match sharpness didn`t help their cause !

We welcome any GAA clothing to aid the refugees in Palestine and Gaza. This is not just to cloth the refugees, but also to again highlight the mistreatment of Palestinian people under occupation and shows solidarity from the Irish people.

Well done Lads , fair play . Will try to get something going in North Tipp and get some Clubs involved !

That 2014 Final Connacht won brought about 5 hundred to Tuam.
Other than a nice weekend junket for some leading players it has no further point and no public interest. :-\

500 people obviously thought differently.

I heard one of the Tipp footballers saying they would only get maybe 500 at NFL games. So do we throw Tipp out of the league?!

300 actually , but we are passionate about our Football !

He plays with Borrisoleigh I think?

Was the best young hurler in Kildare a few years ago. His younger brother is a fine hurler too.

Yeah I knew he was up there alright, but he's been hurling with Tipp for a few years now. Dropped off the panel before championship last year, but if he had scored the goal he missed v Kilkenny he'd probably have made it!

Big strong lad, but a bit slow in the wrists for hurling, if he can play football he might well be an asset. Problem is, as Horse Box is alluding to, there's a pile of clubs in North Tipp that don't even play football.

George Hannigan didn`t play Club football this year yet he will be on the Tipp starting 15 next year , same with O`Brien , O`Halloran played 2 games with a North JFC final to come against Nenagh Eire Óg . Philip Austin played 2 Intermediate Club games , he will be under pressure to start next year with Boland , Hennessy and others on board , reckon O`Halloran could be too !

Don't talk to me. It's the bane of my life. If the North Board took football seriously we'd be sending 30% more lads into contention in Thurles.

Intermediate and Junior Football Championships in the County are run terribly in all Divisions . The standard is brutal . Not good for the County side going forward !
