Quote1.    man flu

The condition shared by all males wherein a common illness (usually a mild cold) is presented by the patient as life-threatening.

This is also known as 'Fishing for Sympathy' or 'Chronic Exaggeration'.

When the patient is your boyfriend, he will exhibit the standard symptoms (such as an overwhelming desire for compassion) while simultaneously rejecting any and all efforts you make to placate him.
You: Awww, you poor fella.
Him: I'm DYING!
You: (Soothingly) Oh, you're not dying Cy.
Him: (Indignant) I AM! I have Man Flu!
You: Do you need some sympathy?
Him: Yes! But no one understands my pain...
You: I understa-
Him: NO YOU DO NOT!!!

Thre is no real condition called 'man flu' I just have normal flu. Can't eat, aches and pains, fever, hot and cold flushes, chesty cough, runny nose, sore head.

As for going to the match las night Max.. Ask not what your club can do for you!!!

Got it on Sunday and I'm still off work today, symptoms as bad as ever... not good

Paddy Bradley, Mattie Forde, Kieran Donaghy, Marc O'Sé, Martin McGrath, Alan Brogan, Gooch Cooper, Graham Canty would all be better than Clarke who has not consistently delivered on his promise of 2002.

Come back in September and we'll talk about it again!
Screenexile, there are EIGHT better players in Ireland than Ronan Clarke at the minute!!  :o
You were at it on the Armagh Down thread as well. Has he done something on you???
Anybody talking about him not regaining the form of 2002 must've slept through the championship in 2006 where he won an Ulster for Armagh on his own and kept us in the Kerry QF by swinging over some mighty points not to mention the assist for McDonnell's goal.
Admittedly he has had some poor years (e.g.2003 where he was plagued by injury), but a fully fit Clarke is further up the pecking order than EIGHTH!! ::)

Have nothing against the fella at all he's a fine footballer but we're talking about the best in the country at the minute. Given league and championship form over say the past 2 years those 8 players I mentioned have been better than him. Simple as. He has played well this season no doubt but admittedly this was against 2 very poor teams (don't tell me DOwn are any use because they are not). As the season goes on I may well change my view and put him as the best but not on this season's showing in all competitions.

Me too - although more hayfever-like symptoms.

So you have hayfever then?! How dare you trivialise my illness! :D :D

Have a bad dose of the man flu at the minute. Had it about 3 days now it's a pure nightmare!

Anybody have any remedies or things which help them get over it a bit quicker? I can't stand another day in bed!

They have it in Rugby too when the Out Half goes into a similar 'pocket' so that he can have sufficient protection to shoot for a drop goal.

Agree with a lot that has been said by the Armagh posters here, concerns over the midfield sector throughout the league resurfaced yesterday. Gordon always seemed to be in position for the catch before McGrane and therefore left McGrane jumping behind him. MOR getting sent off left us with our main breaking ball winner on the line and it could've cost us the match. I have sung his praises quite a bit on the board but yesterday he showed all his negative points. Like Goats I noticed that Brian Mallon was ready to come on presumably for MOR as it was obvious that the red mist had descended and it was only a matter of time before he was sent off. Benny O'Kane was constantly running over to him to try to settle him.
Thought that Aidan started off poorly but as the game went on he became very influential. Charlie Vernon started off like a house on fire but several big hits took it out of him and eventually he blew a gasket. Yes, he does make a few mistakes but Jaysus lads it was his second championship match, he's still settling in, give him time, bit like Stephen Kernan who's just now starting to show what a good player he is.
Ronan Clarke was awesome and as somebody else said he is the best full forward in Ireland (and that includes Kieran Donaghy).
Ciaran McKeever had a great game and showed that he can play as well as a defensive stopper as he can as an attacking wing back, he really has it all. See the Irish News and a few posters on here calling him cynical but him and Coulter were at it all the way through the match.
I am concerned about the Fermanagh match as they will run at us in the same way as Down did and we need to be more disciplined in our tackling, haven't got a chance to watch the rerun but it felt at the time that McQuillan gave a lot of soft frees. We may face the same scenario in the final.

::) ::) ::) ::) Of course he is! I mean playing well against Cavan and Down is the same as being undoubtedly the best FF in 2 Championship seasons whilst winning the AI in both!

Any more nonsense spouted from the we bitter man yesterday. I heard him talkin crap about "Armagh need to push their forwards up the pitch" and then had to turn it over again. Does he not realise that is their tactic they have been using for the last 20 years that has brought them so much success? Yeah they should change the whole thing and lose a few matches, that'll definitely work!

Watched the match with great interest yesterday as I feel Armagh are very definite contendors for this year's All Ireland and while The Cavan match had me convinced they were this matchshowed me that Armagh have a long long way to go to be considered contendor's again.

Against Cavan Armagh looked comfortable throughout and I always felt they had too much for them. Down yesterday were woeful and yet they kicked a bagful of wides and still had a chance in the game right to the end.

Armagh's inability to pull away from teams will ultimately be their downfall. They will own possession and Stevie and Ronan will get some great scores but unless they can capitalise more on their advantage they will lose games. Last year Armagh were head and shoulders above both Derry and Armagh yet they just hung into both games and because they weren't put away Donegal got their sucker punch goal and Derry their sucker punch point to beat them.

As Brolly has said Fermanagh are an awful team to play against, awkward and sticky and plenty of hunger and belief in themselves. Derry should've put them away after 20 mins in Omagh but when they didn't Fermanagh were able to come back strong. If Armagh aren't 5/6 points up with 5/10 to go they could find themselves in severe trouble again although I still fancy that their experience will carry them through the Ulster Final... it won't be wnough for the AI though.

Well sportsfans a repeat of last year's Ulster Semi Final and the tie of the round as far as many are concerned.

I'm quite happy with this draw as it's a big team and a win against them would put our season back on track again. I always felt after last year that if we had to play Monaghan again we would beat them and now my theory can be tested. I think Monaghan played well above themselves with players like Dick Clerkin and Stephen Gollogly flourishing when reall I don't think they are that good. The wheels came off a bit for both sides against Fermanagh so it will be interesting to see who can put that behind them. A loss for either team would seem to indicate a new management team for next year but I think we have enough to beat them this time around.

GAA Discussion / Re: Senan as a pundit
June 29, 2008, 03:14:46 AM
Eufene McGee, Mickey Harte Brian McIver and Caffrey have all won All Irelands as managers so of course their input would be valued. My point would be what is the selection process for selecting pundits when somebody who wasn't that successful as a footballer is considered as a TV pundits? Connell never started on any Dublin team that win east Leinster 's?
