Derry surprisingly good in the first half, Donegal better after half time but they gave away a couple of silly frees. 0-10 0-10, 46 mins.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

Duffy is giving one of the worst refereeing displays I've ever seen, losing control of this Donegal v Derry match.

Marty Duffy has been described as the biggest scourge on the GAA since the Black & Tans. Terrible ref!!

He has had worse displays, he will have worse displays, it's just a typical Duffy refreeing display.

Good second half from Donegal. Could even afford to gift Derry two of their three second half points! Derry couldn't handle Murphy when he went in full forward, Neil Gallagher and Christy Toye were immense and we did very well with the turnovers in the second half.

Two points down, four left to get! :)

Rubbish final 10 mins from the Dubs to hand the victory to the Cork bucks, 2 or 3 of the late subs for Dublin handed the intiative to Cork as they hid for the remainder of the game, not really inter county standard

Really got the feeling that this was a game Cork management were far more concerned about that Gavin and Dublin were, especially after the results in the 2 pre-season contests.

Cork played their strongest team possible whereas Dublin were far more content to work on developing their fringe players a try/rest their
big names.

The fact that the Dublin forwards didnt push up and put any serious pressure on the Cork kickouts make me think that the Dublin management were not too concerned about the result. It will be interesting to see how this Cork team react against a side that do put any sort pressure on their kickouts.

Many teams (Monaghan included) don't push up on opposition kick-outs but you couldn't say that they 'were not too concerned about the result'.

Murphy gave a masterclass on how to 'win' frees / panalties alright. Either lean back into the defender or shake your head and fall to your knees. Duffy fell for it everytime

This is something that refs need to address . Pat Mcilovekerry and his associates talk a load of shite about the rules but never actually get to the real issues that are causing frustration.
Walk-in down mchale rd , sun out, summers day , game day . That's all .

Penalty was questionable,  but that was about it. The free a few minutes before it was a foul.

I called peno in real time. So did the guys on the tv. Only after seeing it in slow motion replays did it become questionable and even then I would have given Murphy the benefit of the doubt. Duffy did not have the benefit of replays.

Think criticism of Duffy a bit ott on this occasion anyway. Thought he did ok.

Does this mean Waterford are better than Dublin?

I was sat directly across along the 13.....Duffy was conned for both.

Anyways, the match is done and dusted. Kerry at home on Sunday. Should be interesting
