Saddened and shocked to hear that singer Phil Callery died on June 1st.  Phil was a member of the Voice Squad and also made many solo recordings.

"Phil Callery began his singing career in the Dublin Folk Clubs scene in the late sixties. He went on to found the first "Singers Club" in Dublin in 1970, which he modeled on Ewan MacColl's famous "Listeners Club" in London. The "Singers Club" provided a platform in the early seventies for such names as Dolores Keane, Triona and Maighread Ní Dhomhnaill, Mary Black, Christy Moore, Luka Bloom, Paul Brady and many more. The "Singers Club" was a forerunner to the "Goilin" Traditional Singers Club, currently running in its 21st year. Phil has guested on several albums to date, Sinead O'Connor, Christy Hennessey, Jimmy McCarthy, to name but a few. He has toured extensively in Europe with 'The Voice Squad' and successfully toured Canada and the USA in 1995."

A woman called Aileen Kennedy a utv journalist. Yesterday a post from her appeared on my timeline about shit life and going home to die now. 43 with kids. Then you read her story and all her three siblings are dead and the parents are still alive. They have lost all of their four children. Absolutely horrendous

Saw that unfold last few days. Shocking. Mind her vaguely from back in the day. Had been in hosp 19 days with no diagnosis which sounded bit dodge then that post yday.

A quick google to see what she had been at led me to same story you saw about the siblings. Parents having to bury 4 children possibly. No words...

Saw the Aideen Kennedy Tweet yesterday and said it to herself earlier and she said she has died. Couldn't believe it. Poor girl didn't have her sorrows to seek and leaves behind kids she reared on her own. 4 siblings dead and the parents still alive. How could ye cope?

Aideen Kennedy's story is shocking, the poor parents and kids left behind.  As has been said, life can be so cruel to some, makes you realise that you really do have to live for the moment.  RIP.

It's a brutal story. There was a family our way and something like four of eight of them would have died and you'd just have no words tbh. I don't know know how those parents cope.

A month ago she was tweeting that she couldn't find work and then she's released from hospital to palliative care and dead the next day! Presumably a long-term disease that went downhill rapidly. Poor family.
