That was an incredible Everton team he managed. Sheedy, Mountfield, Rathcliffe, Southall, Heath and Sharp (and later with the addition of Lineker). Very unlucky to miss out on the treble in 1905. I think tiredness got to them in the end. Always wondered how they would have done in the European Cup the next season if not for the ban. They had the experience of winning the CWC behind them (and I think they neat Bayern in the semi i that year).

Hard to believe Kendall was only 39 when he managed Everton to the title in '85. He seemed 60 to my eye back then.

Well start believing it cos it's true!!

It was probably the 'flipover' made him look owler!

Have to say that TV3 commentator is dire. So many errors. Matlock apparently knocked on at the end to finish the game. Great lawyer, shit rugby player.

Gee that is young. RIP.

I'm not much of a racing fan, but I recall seeing one of these flying around 25 years ago with Pat's own personal G-EDRY as the registration.

Looks like it is deregistered now: http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/G-EDRY.html#aircraft600281

RIP.
Not only one of the greatest jockeys but one of the very top sportsmen we have ever seen from this country.

This is one of his greatest performances where he went with his instinct and won.
