Caddyshack was his directorial debut and he thought they would throw him out of Hollywood because it was so bad, they didn't and it is probably the most quoted movie of all time.

Caddyshack is a strange film. Some parts totally hilarious (any bits with Bill Murray and Rodney Dangerfield), other parts were simply terrible (Chevy Chase, the young golfer and the girl with the south Kerry accent)
