Any team with ambitions of winning either national competition besides Dublin are only fooling themselves and wasting their members' hard earned cash chasing shadows.
So 31 Counties should just stop fielding teams at all??

The ones in three of the provinces can at least aim for the most pertigious titles actually up for grabs. Rest of Leinster is lost territory, sadly.

The sad reality is this year (and next, and next..) Carlow have nearly as much chance of winning Sam as supposed pure bloods like Kerry. Maybe Cork and Meath are ahead of everyone in losing interest in this sport.

Will someone just bar this g&*#!@$e

Win the game guarantee safety and run the panel in the last two league games safe in the knowledge of no repercussions, really see who is up to it and who isn't. It could be an excellent opportunity to do something we haven't been able to do for a number of years.

Two D2 level teams going head to head.

A Division 1 level team and a Division 2/3 level team you complete clown you. Why do you bother your h%@e commenting to stir the pot like you do? You must have an extremely pathetic life if this is where you get your kicks.

In fairness one team has the likes of Conor McHugh and Cormac Costello on the bench, whereas the other has Conor O'Shea and David Drake..

Why are you comparing David Drake to corner forwards? Disturbing issues with Ballaghaderreen people. Did he shift the girl you were chasing in Nathy's?

Have great time for Eoghan. Minority of one maybe , but think he is hugely underrated as a footballer. Mightn't come across as the most elegant of footballers but has been hugely effective for us many a time in the job I think he was there to do. Has had poor games as well I can accept . Alot of Dublin fans don't rate him which I think is harsh.

Don't really want to come across as spiteful, but he caused Mayo no end of trouble in the 2013 AIF if memory serves me right . Many other counties would love to have had him.

Will remember him fondly for that goal v Tyrone  that threw that monkey off our back.

Not sure by the way that he has 4 AI medals, think he missed one through injury.

He had Tom Cunniffe beat up a stick and needed stopping in 2013.

Saturday night his major contribution was deliberate fouling at source to stop any chance of a quick break upfield. Real frustrating side of football that this is allowed continue by all teams.

Both correct. I found O'Gara a revelation in that 2013 final, because I finally realised his worth to the team, which is pretty much as PW outlined. O'Gara is the first line of defence.

Others can pull faces as much as they like but you have to take your hat off to Dublin for being able to pick a team as a team, and not find the best fifteen men and try to make a team out of them.

The criticism of O'Gara is a little like that of Michael Dara. People can crib all they like about him lacking the skills of a classic midfielder but he's not there to do that. He has a role in the team and he fulfilled it to the letter when he was in his prime. He even showed on Saturday there could be life in the old dog yet. I wouldn't begrudge them anything, myself.

MDM is everything that is just wong with the Gaa now to a certain extent.

His awkard running style ,his lack of any basic skills, his over exaggerated hand pass ,the flicking and fixing of his hair every few minutes the use of pure physical aspects to power past players, his over carrying of the ball (nearly every time)

The sweat band on the elbow ...just the whole package

The shaping on and off the field

He can be commended for being such a valuable player with the lack of ability he has, but the money and resources Dublin have has provided him with that platform.

Food protein dieticians etc etc etc ..

He is everything the modern monster of the Gaa has created lads pumped up on juice stopping the natural talent from flourishing .

I admire his dedication no doubt but its sad in my opinion that someone of that ilk could win footballer of the year .

Just an opinion

What a pile of s%$#e. I'm not a dub either. You could do with a couple of his ilk in Laois. Lots of nice players with natural talent but no physicality no toughness.

It's going to be a massacre

While I have some reservations about the McStay/McHale management setup and their inability to keep our  best players on panel (eg Dalys), seeing the beginnings of some of the underage swagger emerging in the style of play. Don't think this will be a massacre and in fact we are in with a good shout of winning what should be close either way. Disagree with the odds, think we'll eek out the narrow win.

Expecting Ulster to be a Donegal v Monaghan final with Donegal favourites. Ususal suspects of Dublin, Corkr, Mayo and Kerry to be there or there abouts in the eventual shake up

Mayo are anything but the usual suspects at U21.

Of course they're usual suspects!! Always in the shake up at this grade. I can't see anyone touching them in Connacht this year.

Someone above said "Kerry are a mess". I assume that is some strange attempt at sarcasm? Kerry are awesome this year. Easily the best talent pool in Ireland and a top manager. Kerry for All Ireland

They've made one Connacht final in eight years. I want what you're smoking.

For once Syferus you have a point.
and while Kerry will be most peoples tip to win both Munster and the All Ireland this year it should be noted they havent won a Munster title at this grade since 2008.

One Connacht final in 8 years? Really? Then I stand corrected. In saying that, they are reigning Connacht and All Ireland Champions and will be in the shake up again this year.
Oh and Sligo will beat Rossies.

2006 to 2009 Mayo won 4 in a row Connacht titles and one All Ireland. The majority of the Mayo senior panel 2011 to 2015 came from those 4 U21 teams. Last year was Mayos first U21 Connacht final appearance and win since 2009 and they reached that final by beating just Leitrim and only beat Roscommon by one point in the final. Galway I can imagine will be more than a match for Mayo this year afterall they were the best minor team in Connacht by some distance the last two years.

By all accounts Roscommon aren't meant to be strong at U21 level this year and they have lost key players to injury. It's a great opportunity for Sligo to reach the final but hard to see them troubling Galway or Mayo in the final.

Strong enough to win a bit of tin in the pre-season..
You do realise that bit of tin was for the loser section of the competition? In the Hastings cup Roscommon played three group games and were well beaten in all 3.

They probably will but I wonder do they still remember the laps of honour they were doing before the Connacht Final in 2010  ;)

Shut up you and support your home county.

Larrin, all this anger isn't healthy for you.

I'm a happy man young cub. I live a blissful existence.

Odds of 1/6 and 9/2 seem to favour mayo a bit more than they should. I'd have it more around 2/5 and 5/2

Whats the handicap?

Dermot Earley, born and bred Mayo as were all belonging to him....going back to the beginning of time
Dermots mum and dad left Mayo for Roscommon in the early 50s when Dermot was still in primary school and Dermots younger brother Paul who also played for Roscommon was born in the 60s.

I heard from a good source that the entire family got "Rossies 4 Life" tatoos when they moved 1 mile over the border into Sheepland

Stick to the Trump support.

Anyways, when did all this animosity between Mayo and Roscommon begin? Since the Facebook era?

It was always there, Farr. There's OAPs on both sides on the border who don't give a flying fûck about football but just want to see their county beat the neighbours. They're not the same ladeens writing on Willie Joe's blog or on Facebook groups..

Whats your major malfunction kiddo?

http://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-games/mayo-the-big-spenders-this-graph-breaks-down-each-countys-costs-in-2016-35458592.html

Mayo topped the charts at over €1.6m , up almost double from 880k in 2015.

What in the actual fúck are ye at?

Competing at all levels. Won Nicky Rackard, U-21B Hurling, All-Ireland Senior Football Final, U-21 All Ireland Champions. Roscommon have the 5th highest spend in Ireland and were dumped out in the qualifiers by a Hurling County and humiliated in the Connacht Final Replay not to mention no impact anywhere else.
