In the latest list of most generous countries, Ireland is placed 9th. Should we be happy that we have made the top 10, or rue the fact that we are behind our neighbours in the UK?

Never underestimate the power of complaining

How the fcuk are those xenophobic cnuts ahead if us?
Is it down to Scotland being still part of it?
Davy's given us a dream to cling to
We're going to bring home the SAM

I would like to think it is down to the number of Irish now living in the UK. But it is more likely that our opinion of ourselves as generous is exaggerated.  As I once heard a comedian say we are quick to offer cead mile failte but not so quick to offer cead mile sausages.

It is a tie between Ireland and the United Kingdom. So we are not behind them.

Typical of themmums listing themselves higher, even when we're equal.

Anyone know the criteria for this?

In America you can give away any old shite to "goodwill" tell the tax man it was worth something and then write it off your taxes.

I bettting thats how America is so high

Also no Laos, or Albania would find it hard to believe Britain would be ahead to them

Burma gets 1st place because of how religion is funded. Ireland would have been like that 100 years sgo. If the money taxpayers paid to cover the church's responsibility for child abuse was counted Ireland would easily be top 3.

Skip to 12:12 for the result if you don't have time to watch it all, though it's well worth watching.

If there was a similar poll based on counties. Mayo would win hands down. No other county has been more generous in giving All Ireland titles to other counties.  ;D

Actually Kerry are way ahead in that statistic, but then you not being a Kerryman wouldn't know that.

Was Ireland based on 26 or 32 counties? This could make a sizeable difference and will surely cause offence to someone?
