well done Donegal! But you have to say the better team were bet today. Donegal still lack guile or cuteness and this will tell as the bar rises over the next couple of months. The back door teams will not be happy to see Armagh in so soon. Armagh looked to be over the line comfortaby today but for the freak last minute goal. They will not be phased by the back door. Donegal have now a genuine chance of winning Ulster given Tyrones much publicised injury crisis. My only concern for them is that they have had to peak early for their League triump and todays Ulster chp tie and the wind may be out of them come August. Anyway to all Donegal fans congrats!

Galway very cynical. P Joyce should have seen line for frontal elbow on C Mortimer, that backfired onto his number 6 and referree bottled many yellow card decisions with Black books. Mayo look to be a team still preparing for championship and this game had the feel of a friendly or last unimportant league game. Anyway i expect them to be sharper in 7 weeks or it will be an unusually short summer! By the way well done Galway, Deserved winners!

Great to see a title race this year......Men and Boys stuff! Both Man U and Chelsea have had to pull out results week in week out! Would be great if the other two (Arsenal & L'Pool) of the Evil Empire of 4 were in the reckoning! At least Scunthoroe Utd will be playing Championship next season!

Well done to Laois, Well deserved win. They were far the hungrier and from this got the breaks. Poor Ros team in Connacht final plus losing key players did not help the Mayo Cause. Best of Luck again to Laois.

GAA Discussion / Re: Mayo v Dublin

Dublin have to be worried that they crumbled so much in the 2nd Half. Granted they were down to 14 early on but that was no excuise for such a poor performance. Whelan went hiding again (again) when Mayo upped it and how Shane Ryan was not brought in sooner shows that the Pillar guile on the sideline is (Still) not up to scratch. Mayo will be worried about the (Number of ) wides and Mortimer has a one trick pony feel to him. He's still terrible in front of goal - Just blasts and Hopes! Needs to learn a few one on one tricks. Still Mayo are through and sorted with a game in hand. Kerry, Tyrone and Armagh are out of the picture so there will be one of four licking their lips at the 2nd(?) most important title to be won this year!

Yeah, the Gunner Boys were reading to many Daily Sun's about how great there B side was before the season got serious. No medals are handed out in January. Still have a talented bunch, but needed a reality check. Beating two slapped together L'pool sides does not make you great. In fact beating two unslapped together L'pool sides side only ranks average. They are one for the future, but Leeds will tell you how that can fall apart!

Cricket is here in Mayo! The Mall (Green) in Castlebar is supposed to be a cricket ground, sanctioned by Landlord Lucan. There was a (Makeshift) team there not so long ago (if still there). Also Ballyhaunis had a nifty Cricket team a few years ago winning National titles.....I think!

"If we can win Connacht then we can start planning every game after that because it's only three games and you're in an All-Ireland final again.

Mort must be expecting another draw this year in the Quarters or semi final if Mayo win a Connacht title.

GAA Discussion / Re: What is your county?

Yeah, realise that topic has been done but has poll been done? Also there is a drift of people that come and go as well as constantly stay on this board. Just was interested to see where (in Numbers) the representation is from. I know that from reading (most) posts where most are from but the poll helps to show the demographic interest.

I just throw this to the front of the queue every week or so to see what is the representative layout of the discussion board.  :) Any area of the world left out, i'll add you in. I started out with counties that compete in AI. But i will add in for out side that zone!

Matt Connor was Magic! One man show really, up front. Johnny Mooney was mighty in the air and clever, but not great in front of the posts. The game last night showed how kerry (with some fine Players) evolved the game into a thinking mans game. The old v the new. Out the door went the catch a kick (in hope of finding a player). The only high balls that were kicked in by kerry were to the Bomber. Support play, Passing the ball to the runner etc. This has to be admired and is often belittled. The hand pass goal was embarrassing to watch, now there was a basketball skill if ever you seen one and thankfully gone. A great Kerry team, and if you were lucky enough to have been around when they were strutting their skills you will have seen the best set of players ever! God they were so good that i remember a time when we thought they would never go away. They were the Steve Davis of Gaelic Football!
