Mad post in parts there Ogie.
They might be putting a lot of work in at underage but so is everyone else. Most of their teams at underage very low on quality.
Long, long road ahead.

Hard to credit how poor they have been in last two games.
It's like they downed tools once Castletown got a few scores in second half.
This isn't choking. They never looked liked winning.
Successive managements who have decent track records have failed to handle this group.
Have the senior/star players dictated too much over the years?
Are there elements of politics at play to keep the merger on the rails?
Is there any threat to it? The last thing Borris, Kilcotton or Laois need is to split up.

Abbeyleix impressive enough against Camross. Should have too much for Castletown.

The two games on Saturday sound like they were par for the course.

Next round:
Clough Ballacolla
Rathdowney Errill
Camross
Abbeyleix

There may be no game closer than 7 or 8 points.

That would leave quarter finals
Clough Ballacolla v Castletown
Abbeyleix v Rosenallis

Semi Finals*
Camross v Clough Ballacolla
Rathdowney Errill v Abbeyleix

Relegation Final
The Harps v Borris Kilcotton

*Presuming repeat fixtures are avoided?

I was researching something and came across this.

Prophetic.

We've had some stream of fellas giving interviews talking about how bad we are since!!

One thing that bugs me big time.

I heard W Maher interviewed.

"Waterford are 6 or 7 years further down the road when it comes to S&C"....

How can this actually be?

Laois set ups for the past 5 or 6 years haven't been low budget.

Exact point I was making a few weeks back.
It doesn't stack up.

Granted, as someone pointed out, players coming & going affects this badly.

Should Laois GAA employ 1/1.5/2 full time S&C experts and take this out of the hands of management teams?
Would bring consistency, player familiarity & would remove a barrier/excuse going forward.

While it's lamentable that hurling is at such a low ebb in the town surely tat's an opportunity for the likes of Clonad to get in younglads from the town who want to hurl.
Does it help your club at all?

We do

But it's a struggle and Portlaoise tend to have first call on youngsters from a GAA background

If I won the Euromillions,I would consider having a second Clonad pitch and grounds in the town

Still pretending to be from Clonad?!

Fair points above.

The CB may need to employ two people full time to work with the adult hurling & adult football teams.
No matter who comes in- this is your head S&C guy.

I don't have any insight into why this didn't happen.... But I can't imagine the GAA wouldn't have been reasonable in this matter.
Nothing to be gained from being otherwise.

The LGFA nationally have a reputation for being difficult & unreasonable. I have no idea if that extends to this situation, but I wouldn't be jumping to dump the blame at the feet of Laois GAA.

A very disappointing comment made here by Keyser Soze. From stating "I don't have any insight" but still well able to label an organisation making great strides as "difficult and unreasonable".

You are deliberately combining two different statements into one.

Statement 1 summarized- I don't have any insight into who this didn't happen (I don't think anybody here has any details Re demands/expectations/requests from either side- open to correction)
I can't imagine Laois GAA had any interest in being overly difficult in this matter. That has been my experience in matters like this.

Statement 2 summarized- Both the GAA and the Camogie association have found the LGFA incredibly difficult to deal with over many years & many matters. Go figure!

Therefore, I qualified my opinion by saying I don't know the "ins & outs", but my experiences would lean towards the LGFA being difficult.
They have been deliberately difficult nationally (I did say nationally) when it has come to accommodating dual players & were an absolute joke at important stages of talks aimed towards merging the GAA, Camogie & LGFA.

I stand over what I wrote. Posters had immediately assumed Laois GAA were wrong in some way.
Again, I wouldn't be jumping to blame Laois GAA.
They could be to blame for this.
I don't any of us know the full story?
If the details energe and they are, absolutely call them out!

Thanks for the opportunity to clarify!

The half back line issue mentioned above is 100% spot on.

It has crept in over last few years.

Extra men back so 5-7 should attack in possession.
Okay in theory.
In reality, nobody accepts responsibility for 10-12.
They go to town.
Some of the match reports over the last 2 years that laud those playing 5-7 for getting a few points are totally misguided.
It's the kind of stuff that Mr B Cody would spot & call out in 5 minutes.

They do? I would always have seen them as far more progressive, inclusive and player focused than the GAA.

Ever spoken to anybody with any knowledge of the attempts to unite the LGFA, GAA & Camogie associations?

Ever spoken to anybody in the Camogie association who have tried to come to a common arrangement Re fixtures involving the same players?

I can see both points above, and there are some guys in that should have been in before now.
There are also guys that you wouldn't be certain will be start with their clubs.

The set up sounds positive.
