Fair play to the six counties and each of their players are to be congratulated. I was pleased to see them qualify with a game to spare.

However my loyalty remains with Ireland because:
1) The existence of an NI team underlines the separation of my country
2) NI soccer flags fly along side loyalist paramilitary flags
3) Their national anthem

The existence of the NI team is because the FAI broke away from the IFA (the original All-Ireland body). If partition is such a big problem for you then you shouldn't support either team.

Congrats to Orior and all the Nordie posters on here.

You need to change the bait, boyo!
Only when I stop getting bites  ;)
I am delighted for gawa316 though in fairness. Sound chap and he'll be delighted right now.

Ah shucks that's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me!!

Delighted is an understatement. Hadn't planned to head home for a bit but I now know what my tax return will be going on!!

How have you managed to calm down/sober up enough to type that?

It is, I think, the first time the club has has had one of the best managers in the game come in. Shanks, paisley, and Rafa all built their name at the club.

Rafa had won La Liga twice and the UEFA cup before Liverpool so he wasn't a total novice.

Doesn't the best 3rd place team qualify automatically?

Yes:

France qualify as hosts.
Top two in 9 groups = 18
Top ranked 3rd place team = 1
Remaining 3rd place teams in 8 groups playoff = 4

Total = 24

How do they calculate the top 3rd place team, with all the different size groups?

Discard results against the bottom team in 6 team groups

For the last game vs Poland assuming German beat or draw with Georgia.

Ireland win - Qualify automatically
2-2 draw or higher - Qualify automatically
0-0 or 1-1 - Third place
Ireland lose - Third place

If we beat Germany tomorrow night, does that f**k Scotland so?

If Scotland and Ireland both beat Poland and Scotland beat Gibraltar then Scotland and Poland will finish on 17 points and Scotland will have the tie break advantage for the 3rd place slot.

I got an email saying I didn't get in which I'm not that upset about tbh!
Checked by junk mail there and got the same one. Meh..might leave them for a couple of years after Amsterdam.
I plan on doing Dublin 2016.
The year after that I'll be turning 40 so would love to do one abroad to mark turning 40. The New York marathon is around the time of my birthday(November) so doing that would be great but I hear its also difficult to get into as its also a lottery.

If you use a tour company (eg. http://sportstravelinternational.com/) then you will get guaranteed entry (and pay for the privilege)

Wales could still easily miss the Q/Fs. If England beat Australia by 7 points or less and neither team getting a 4 try bonus then the table would be
Wales 13
Aus 10
Eng 10

Then England win and score four tries against Uruguay and Australia narrowly beat Wales
Eng 15
Aus 14
Wales 14

First tie breaker is head to head and Australia go through.

If they had positioned a defender inside each post at corners then the Norwich goal would have been prevented.

3rd term for Obama is on the cards I would say

Except the US Constitution prevents third terms.
