Dublin footballers will play their first championship match outside Croke Park since 2006 when they face either Laois or Wicklow in Kilkenny's Nowlan Park next summer. The decision to take the All-Ireland champions out of the capital for the Leinster Championship quarter-final was made at a meeting of the Leinster Council this evening. Laois and Wicklow meet in a Leinster first-round clash, with the winner awarded the dubious honour of facing Dublin, who will be seeking their sixth provincial title in a row.

Calls for the Dubs to forego what has been seen as their unfair home advantage at Croke Park have been growing in recent years. Earlier, GAA President Aogán Ó Fearghail echoed those calls when he said he believes it is "important" Dublin are taken out of Croke Park to spread the game and boost provincial venues across Leinster.

There are more than two nationalist parties in NI.
The DUP and UUP are both nationalist parties.
It's just that they are British nationalists.

No amount of being on message or incessantly promoting Irish nationalism or appealing to the nation's patriotic backbone would persuade Ulster Protestants that they are in fact Irish rather than British.

You cannot be devout and endorse sin.Simple as that

According to Church law:
Catholics may not get divorced and remarried
Catholics may not marry a Protestant without permission frm the church

The fact that those two things are legal does not mean that a Catholic is endorsing sin.

How can you be devout and abandon your beliefs? Move on to what? Anything goes?

No one will be obligated to get gay married even if it becomes legal in NI. Divorce is already legal and that has no effect on the teaching of the Catholic Church.

3:56

I realised after about the third mile that 3:45 wasn't going happen so I adjusted my plan to aim for beating my PR of 3:59.

I'll do a longer update later but for now there is a pint or two that probably aren't going to drink themselves.

Did you get in through the ballot dec?

No, I live in New York so I got in through the New York RoadRunners 9+1 program http://www.nyrr.org/join-and-give/become-a-member/run-9-give-1
I ran 9 NYRR races last year (varying distances from 5K to half marathon) and volunteered at 1 of their races.

Back last year when we did that chart to record our monthly running I put sub 1:45 half marathon as my goal. I never updated my monthly totals, they would have been quite inconsistent. This year has been slightly better with my training and I got close to my goal with 1:45:44 Back in May. My next goal is a 3:45 marathon and I just picked up my number for the New York marathon on Sunday.
I have picked up a cold in the last day, hopefully the worst of it will be over by Sunday, so if I am feeling ok I'll still try for 3:45. If not then beating my PR of 3:59 will be my goal. I hope I haven't jinxed myself by putting this in writing.

I've never been eligible to give blood in Ireland due to having been resident in the UK for a cumulative period of more than 12 months in 80s-early 90s. I'm a CJD risk apparently...

Its something I would like to do

Does that include people who lived in Northern Ireland?

I can't give blood here in the US for the same reason, but their ban extends to people who lived in most countries in Europe with varying durations.

How did we get the second leg at home by the way?
Luck of the draw, there was no seeding for order of games, only who who would play who.

There were seven Rugby Championship vs Six Nations games in this World Cup. In two of them the Six Nations team would have gained a losing bonus point.

Quote from the Irish Times above shows what's important at Windsor Park.

"Lots of Catholics support Northern Ireland and that is certainly the way it should be, as long as they stand for the Queen, that's all we want to know."

No, it shows what is important for one Shankill Road Loyalist.
