Title: Mayo Fundraiser
Post by: TheGreatest on February 14, 2019, 12:14:48 PM
Any idea how to get tickets for this, a lot of money in Mayo GAA, Ireland favourite team. A lot of money to spend on one code per year.

We can't all be as lucky as Dublin GAA and expect hand outs year in year out. "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche"

Is the ruby sponsor the 25k package, and emerald the 10k. That surely is putting the red above the green, a no-no in traditional Mayo GAA circles.

I'm sure New York and the NACB are delighted about this news.

Ah but not nearly as much as Dublin had to spend on building their own Stadium and the debt that came with that or the plan to build their own training center and the cost that will come with that? I am not even going to mention the travel expenses that Dublin GAA have to fork out to bring their players across the country for training which Mayo don't have to contend with or the fact that Mayo got €15.4m in development grants in 2018 compared to Dublin only getting €590k!!!! They GAA persecution of Dublin knows no bounds and it is amazing that the Dubs can field a team let alone win All Irelands to be honest!!

P.S just to correction one slight inaccuracy in your intelligent insightful post , Mayo do compete in hurling albeit in the Nicky Rackard Cup and Keith Higgins has won a Railway Cup for Connacht in both football and hurling. I thin k only Kilkenny and Cavan compete in only one code at intercounty level!!

In fairness most New York clubs playing budgets would dwarf all Mayo clubs playing budgets!!

Sorry not sure what your on about, this is about Mayo GAA fundraiser, I am not sure if its just for the Senior Football team or more than that, fair play to them if they can do it and get it, I just feel for say Leitrim, where Mayo have a large financial gain over them, which is unfair to the Leitrim's out there.

The running of the Dublin teams, from minor to senior, both codes, both genders is catered for from sponsorship and merchandising etc. Its not catered for from Development and coaching grants for for the betterment of children in the capital.

Not necessarily that they are stingy.
More that they don't need to do any fundraising given they don't have travel expenses worth worrying about plus no debt from developing a centre of excellence or
a proper ground.

Strangely, i don't think that's necessarily a good thing.
Putting your had in your pocket generates a stronger emotional connection.

Would you bother your hole fundraising if you knew there were handouts there from the GAA and Sponsors on tap and there is nothing to pay for?

;) it was a fair play thread, fair play to them, Kerry raised a few million I believe on their trips to the states.

And one might say, the finances of the top 1-3 or 1-4 teams are on par.

Any ideas of the final figures here from this fundraiser, Mayo spend the most in the country on the senior fooball preparations, which is way more that dual counties spend on two teams?

Do you have to pay taxes on this money when being transferred back to Ireland?

Understandable when they were reaching finals, a logistical nightmare Id say with players located all over the show etc.., What was their spend last year with an early exit out of interest and how would it have compared to say 2017?
