GAA Discussion / Old School Green Gloves
January 18, 2014, 02:31:13 PM
Anyone remember the old school green gloves that lads used wear playing football? This would be 15-20 years ago and your two options were the old Mikasa yellow and black numbers or these green ones that looked for all the world like gardening gloves.

Anyone remember what brand they were or have any pics with them?

GAA Discussion / Liam O'Neill

He's been top brass in the GAA for a couple of months at this stage, what are peoples' opinions of him at this stage?

Seems to be pretty progressive to me, looking hard for ways to improve football at least (I assume he's looking hard at hurling too being a hurling man himself). Creating a committee to look at the football rule book with a view to positive changes and inviting suggestions from the public is a fairly novel move and at least shows he's not detached from the masses.

Anything I've heard him speak about he seems to have a fair bit of honesty and a fair bit of passion on which is nice to see. I guess overall I've been pretty impressed with him.

Anyone else got an opinion?

GAA Discussion / Your County's Best 15
February 02, 2012, 02:35:19 PM
With the league due to start this weekend it might be interesting for people to know how the various teams other counties are sending out compare to their strongest line ups. I find myself asking on nearly every thread "how many of that line up will play come Championship time" so thought might as well start a thread.

We all probably know the key players for most counties, but it can be hard to keep up with the calibre of many of the players who are less reported on.

I think Kerry's strongest 15 - injuries etc notwithstanding - would be pretty close to:

-------------------- Brendan Kealy --------------------

Tom O'Sullivan ------- Marc O'Sé ------- Shane Enright

Tomás O'Sé --------- Eoin Brosnan --------- Killian Young

----------- Anthony Maher --- Brian Sheehan -----------

Paul Galvin ------- Declan O'Sullivan ------- Darren O'Sullivan

Colm Cooper ------ Kieran Donaghy ------ Kiaran O'Leary

What's your counties best 15?

Didn't see a thread for this.

Galway's team has just been named:

QuoteM Breathnach

C Forde
F Hanley
K Kelly

G Bradshaw
J Duane
G O'Donnell

T Flynn
F O Curraoin

J Ryan
P Conroy
M Hehir

M Martin
C Bane
D Cummins

Four debutants there, goalkeeper Manus Breathnach, corner back Keith Kelly, Mark Hehir at left half forward and Michael Martin at right corner forward.

Obviously the ongoing absence of Michael Meehan is a blow to Galway, as is the uncertainty over if and when Padraig Joyce will return to the fold.

Any other players missing for Galway who would be expected to make a full strength team?

Haven't seen any line up for Derry yet, will add it when I see it.
