Donaghy out, F Mo in. Strange seeing a social media released statement to confirm night before a match. Changed times in the format of the message & in not lying like f**k to cover things up.

Quote from: Armagh GAAThe rumour mill has been in overdrive and our management team have asked us to release the following statement, to allay any fears that our supporters have

"Brendan Donaghy has picked up a minor knock and as a precaution will now take his place on the bench. Finnian Moriarty has been asked to Replace Brendan and like every other member of the panel, is prepared for the challenge, when asked to play a role. Brendan is disappointed at not starting, but is available on the bench and rearing to go, if he is required and we sincerely hope that the supporters play their part, in motivating their team".

We hope this answers any questions and queries that our fans and supporters have!

We're Ready, Are You??

Leaves that Armagh FB line extremely inexperienced. There are goals in this game for Cavan, over 1.5 goals @7/2 with PP looks very appealing.

Will Fergie Clear Out United's Dross...?

Before we start, this isn't another 'United are rubbish despite winning the league' article. We've done those. Agree, disagree, it's not really important. They have won the title, they won't get that record points total and they're now lying back until someone places a pillow over the face of their season and sends it to merciful oblivion.

However, what the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea showed was that surely, this Manchester United squad requires some trimming, and there are a few obvious places to start.

Anderson has been 'promising' ever since arriving at United some six years ago, without ever really progressing beyond that. Some encouraging performances have frequently been taken by the optimistic sorts as the start of something new, a glimpse of a player worth the £18million United paid for him back in 2007. But they've been false dawns, teases that Anderson could be the answer to their continuing gap in central midfield, without him ever becoming that player.

You can forgive being slightly underwhelming. Anderson is not, after all, responsible for how much money United paid for him. What he is responsible for is a level of fitness expected of a Premier League footballer, a level that he palpably does not have. To watch the big-boned Brazilian puff around the pitch, seemingly unable or unwilling (equally unacceptable) to break into a trot after 20 minutes of the Chelsea game as the visitors attacked. That he has only completed 90 minutes 18 times in six years is pretty embarrassing.

Nani falls into a similar category, although he at least has the decency to be physically capable of running around a bit. Consistently inconsistent, Nani also has the disadvantage of a similarly quick, unpredictable right-footed winger who plays from the left arriving in the summer in the shape of Wilfried Zaha. The Portuguese does have in his favour that he has generally produced his best form for United playing on the right, so perhaps he can switch over to that side and be more useful.

Which brings us to Antonio Valencia, who is not mentioned in the 'For Sale' sections of the gossip pages as much as Nani and Anderson, if at all. However, he is just as much of a candidate for the clear-out as his teammates, based on this season's form. A colleague remarked during the Chelsea game that Valencia's fall is pretty much as dramatic as Fernando Torres's, a view that isn't as silly as it might otherwise sound.

Torres only gets the attention he does for his poor form because of the whole £50million business, as well as being a favourite of Roman Abramovich, foisted on a series of unfortunate Chelsea managers. But like Torres, Valencia often looks like he has forgotten how to play football, a foal not entirely in control of his own legs and certainly with little idea of what to do with that ball at his feet. In times past Valencia would pick up the ball, knock it past the full-back and power towards the byline before either clipping over or pulling back a measured cross. Now he picks up the ball and either stumbles into the full-back or shanks the thing into the crowd. The Old Trafford crowd doesn't even sound that surprised when it happens anymore, every error eliciting just a mild 'This sh*t again' grumble rather than a howl of derision.

The sale of these three should cobble together enough cash to finally buy that central midfielder, but once again Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't sound keen.

"We have no plans to sell anyone," said Ferguson last week.

"That's a fact. There is no need for us to sell anyone. Nani played last week at Arsenal and he did well. When he is in form there are very few better than him. So I think we will bring him back in pre-season training and he will be all right."

Of course, when Fergie tells you it's pasta you check under the sauce to make sure, his public pronouncements usually leaning towards the 'constructive bullsh*t' side of misleading - constructive, obviously, because statements like that serve a purpose. Specifically, his purpose - he's more likely to get a good price for his wares if he says they're still Manchester United players than if he says they're expensive rubbish.

There has been much talk about whether this United team compares with Fergie's best, but that makes it easy to mask that there is a fair amount of dross in this squad. Ferguson would be best finally cutting his losses on at least two, possibly all three of the players mentioned here, but whether he will...well, it's wise never to predict what the old boy will do next.

Could've included a couple more for good measure, but this isn't far wrong. Eighteen full nineties in six years is some stat.

I know we're a longshot, but are we so bad as to be entirely out of the conversation?

Yes. But so are poll options Meath, Galway, Down and Derry.

Bumper weekend for Naas General Hospital with the sort of crowd that line up will attract.

Electric Picnic lineup announced Thursday, hard to see it being anything special with everything left so late.

I wonder if Suarez is aware of just how many fantasy football teams he has fucked up at a very crucial stage of the season. Selfish bastard.

United need a big clear out. At least 10 of that squad needs to go.
Better still get rid of the whole squad,Ferguson and start from scratch.

Should probably shift Old Trafford and all. Move to Germany, the Bundesliga looks like it's on the way up.

Wellbeck is shite though.

Yeah, but a different type of shite than Hernandez.

Welbeck and Hernandez are such different player, who perform such different roles, that direct comparisons are redundant. If it does 'kill' Hernandez to see Welbeck start before him then he has as little a clue as those attempting comparisons between the two players.

Here is my take on the Championship 15! Any opinions??

1. P Mc Evoy - Yeah.
2. J Morgan - Yeah.
3. B Donaghy - Yeah.
4. P Mc Keown - Shields has as good a shout for this spot.
5. A Kernan - Yeah.
6. K Mc Keever - Will play at 7.
7. F Moriarity - An option for 6, but probably behind Toner and McKenna.
8. K toner/J Lavery - Lavery will definitely play.
9. S Harold - Yeah.
10. C Rafferty/T Kernan - Rafferty will definitely play.
11. C Vernon - As has been said, he's injured. A Forker would be my choice for this spot. Hanratty, Mallon and even E Rafferty could come into the mix.
12. K Dyas - Yeah.
13. G Mc Parland - Probably played himself out of the team in the last couple of league games. T Kernan looking a lot more likely.
14. S Forker - Yeah.
15. J Clarke - Yeah.

I was thinking about who we've "found" through the league this year and i think it amounts to Harold, Donnelly and McCooey, all of who are unproven in my view. Granted, Harold had a great game against Galway but i remain unconvinced. The other two lads have an awful lot to do to be county footballers.

Harold has shown a lot more than just that Galway game, he was very good against Westmeath and has grown better in every game since the one against Longford. Of course he's unproven at Championship level, but the signs are positive.

On finds, Mark Shields has had as many decent moments as Donnelly or McCooey, and he probably has a better shot than either of breaking into the 15 for the Cavan game. But the 'refinds' have been more encouraging. Dyas, Lavery, Forker and maybe also T Kernan have all shown better form in the last handful of games than at any other stage of their county careers.

I was just looking at the Armagh team that beat Galway.
That is a very Strong half back line of Aaron Kernan,Kieran Toner and Finian Moriarty.
Midfield,I know of James Lavery who is a good player but who is this Stephen Harold guy, and how good is he?
Johnny Hanratty or David McKenna will surely start at Centrefield on May 19th ?
When you add in Vernon,Dyas,Forker, the Kiernans and the brilliant Jamie Clarke into it,you just see the huge potential there in this Armagh team.

Firstly the half back line will include McKeever, the captain. Harold is a solid player, this season first time he has had any real run in the team and proved his worth when needed on Sunday. Vernon is only back one game and Dyas can be hit and miss. David McKenna isn't even on the panel so would say Harold has a good chance of staying put at midfield.

Harold and Lavery will almost certainly be our midfield paring. Harold has been the find of the year for us, getting better every game.

Dyas has been hit and miss in the past, but has found some consistency during this league campaign. It's no coincidence that this consistency has come with the first proper run in his best position.

Vernon is an interesting one. To my mind, you could mark down five of the six Armagh forwards: Clarke, S Forker, T Kernan, Rafferty and Dyas. If Grimley is set on including Vernon then he'll come in at CHF. But the likes of McParland, Mallon and A Forker are also challenging for that sixth spot - inclusion of either of the first two would probably see T Kernan shifting out to the HF line.

There seems to be a similar conundrum for Grimley at CHB. If he feels that Toner has to be involved somewhere then that is where he'll play. But there are more natural options for the HB line, like McKenna and Moriarty.

There's still too much uncertainty and inexperience about this Armagh side to have much real confidence in them. They're as likely to lose this one by ten as win by ten.
