Reading the article on Pauric Duffy/Congress next weekend in Saturday's indo I was dismayed that the man who is supposed to save club football could only talk about looking after the elite underage player.........since going into office he seems to have realised that the elite players bring in the money and the next generation of those must be looked after. The other 90% odd can go to hell as long as the cream are protected. Can someone at Congress stand up for club footballers or are all the delegates only worried about the elite in their counties as well?

Bit silly though, how much does it cost to get to every ground in the country? 

It makes me laugh when retiring sportsmen put out statements like O'Connell's. Thanking their wives for "unwavering support through the good and the bad". He was a professional sportsman ffs, not a navy seal or bomb disposal expert.

Sadly "desperation" is the first word that popped into my mind when I read the news this morning. The chances of Johnston making a significant difference to the inside forward line given his injuries, age and absence from intercounty football are very very slim. The chances that this move sends the wrong message to supporters, current players, younger players and invites a media circus to our camp for all the wrong reasons are fairly large.

I'm a big fan of Terry and I'd always give him the benefit of the doubt with his decisions but not with this one. Johnston should never have been given the opportunity to pull on a Cavan jersey again.

Agree with ya there, desperate looking. You'd have to ask aswell, who does this benefit? What about building for the future? It looks like a selfish move to try and get some results, no matter what it takes, to take the bad look off last year. The only people this benefits is Johnston and the management.

Any buckeen willing to put the effort to play county football deserves respect. Cavan's forwards have been in a slumber for anumber ofa years - it's hard to make a case Seanie doesn't have the skills to be a part of the current Cavan panel. Good on Hyland for being the bigger man.

When was the last time you saw him play? He hasnt played fir Cavan since 2011 and barely kicked a ball for his club since either.

I've seen the Cavan forwards play yearly in the intervening years. Ye couldn't beat us with the deck stacked in your favour this year (we were hardly going great guns - losses to Sligo and Fermanagh sandwiched that match) because ye had no one who could consistently take their scores, and you played your second best midfielder as a FF to no effects such was your desperation to manufacture a cutting edge.

Hyland should run the rule over anyone with the potential to help Cavan score. The rest should be noise for him.

With all the bad feeling it will create among fans and possibly the players themselves I dont see how it will be worth it in the long run. Hyland's entire reign has been geared towards building a team for the future, how does bringing back a 31 year old ,who Hyland helped get rid of in the first place, help? We are definitely short on scoring forwards, there is no doubt about that. There are other options though, getting Eugene Keating back would be a far greater use of the managements time. Hyland's last year in charge, a lot of pressure on after a terrible year last year, it seems like a bit of a hail mary to me

Tyrone made hard work of it today. Morgan and mcaliskey were liabilities tbh. Morgans decision making was poor and the sooner Mickey O'Neill is back the better. Mcaliskey was having a shocker and was even lucky to put one over from 21 yards Off the ground. In the warmup he was banging 45's over no probs. Also Peter Harte was poor up until he scored 1-1. Sorry but not sure if Richie donnelly is up to county level. Positives were that Mark bradley was superb and tiernan McCann made a big difference when he came on. Tyrone have still enough to get through next round but that is as good as it will get.

If Terry goes and I sincerely hope not, the arse will completely fall out of Cavan Senior county team. Gone will be the global interviews and sponsorship that were so prominent and important this year. It will be a complete PRO disaster with b&bs and hotels forced to close due to lack of involvement of the Senior team in important pitch openings. Cavans record in pitch openings is outstanding. I know Cavan haven't won a championship game in Ireland in exactly 2 years now but let's not get too dispondant .the Saviour is still here! Cavan can go back stateside next year with their head held high and their leader leading from the front and go and defend that World Series and but back to back Series together! That now should be the aim. 2 in a row World Series !!but it's going to take a supreme effort all around to nail that series again.. Chin up lads!!! The future is and always be blueeeee!!

It would be helpful in the midst of all this idle gossip if the two County Boards issued a statement clarifying events. This would ensure that fault on either side lies exactly where it should. It seems strange given the injuries that Dublin are saying nothing and the GAA are not taking action.

I doubt county boards are going to start issuing statements to please lads on message boards!
