No championship games in Galway prior to the Mayo game.

https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/galway-to-get-clear-run-at-mayo-as-club-action-delayed-469124.html

Is their senior championship this weekend in Mayo?

https://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-games/gaelic-football/full-house-signs-being-prepared-five-weeks-before-mayogalway-showdown-36776364.html

Capacity at 28,000 in McHale Park, must be a fair chance of getting close to that next month.

That article is slightly misleading given that the championship in Galway has started mid May for as long as I can remember, it's just this year the Galway Mayo game is about a month earlier than normal. Better off starting it as late as possible anyway seeing as there's no games for July and most of August. There's 2 or 3 rounds of league action this month to keep the clubs going.
It's totally misleading. Hogan Stand also states that club championship has been "postponed" until after the Mayo game.
It hadn't been fixed for prior to that game in the first place.
Championship always starts somewhere between mid May and the end of May.
It started on the weekend of 13th May last year.

April was supposed to be the month for clubs, though..
True true. There are a good number of league games being played in April I think.
Personally I'd prefer if the championship started in April.
Just has never been the way in Galway up to now at any rate.

How many club league games has Galway county players played this year and when will the club championship start now?

Great stuff by Liverpool and i can't see them letting that lead slip now. Man City for as good as they have been in the league they have yet again flattered to deceive in the Champions league.

20 mins to play Manchester City are doing a lot of huffing and puffing and not even creating a decent chance.

Salah off with a groin injury.

Dream half for Liverpool they just need to keep a clean sheet (easier said than done) 2nd half and they will be good as through to the semi finals already.

- black card = a penalty kick
Would be a bit daft to be awarded a penalty for a third man tackle at the other end of the field. The black card is past its sell by date IMO it should go back to the yellow and red cards only.

I'd pick De Gea if I was picking a current Premier League XI.

But I'd definitely pick Schmicheal if I was picking a best XI since the start of the premier league.
Would probably agree there. DeGea,Van der Sar and Schmeichel three outstanding Premier league goal keepers. Then you had Fabien Barthez who was fairly decent also.

I fancy Liverpool to win tonight 2-1 i reckon.

RIP Ray Wilkins. A good footballer that played until 41 i think? and was a good pundit on the TV unlike some others.

If New York win v Leitrim they will travel to play Roscommon in Hyde Park. The game is scheduled for a Saturday to allow the New York players a enough time to be back for work.

Good old Connacht where a provincial final place can be obtained by beating New York or Leitrim in your own pitch.
Thats the luck of the draw. Mayo 2012 only had to beat Leitrim at home to reach the final and then played Sligo in the final. Roscommon if they reach the final and a if needs to be used as they only beat New York by 1 point in their last meeting will likely play Mayo in the Connacht final a top 3 side and the game would be played in MacHale Park.

Have Galway withdrawn from u20 championship according to http://connachtgaa.ie/fixtures-results/ they don't seem to be in the Draw

That Connacht GAA website!

Is the U20 going to be a bit of a farces this year? Maybe not for stronger countries but we're definitely going to be missing several players due to them being on U20 panels. Think the rule this year is daft and of course favours those with greater resources.

I thought that although Kerry will probably the team who suffers most, as they'll be missing both O'Se & Clifford.

I don't think the most considering as they have the pick of three All Ireland minor winning teams. The rule is all the more daft when you see Hurling U20 championship to be will have players allowed to play both the under-age competition and senior, unlike football. This years U20 championship scheduled for June is a farce also as a lot of players won't be able to play due to leaving cert exams.

Not sure how much you can read out of that Div 2 final yesterday? two sides that went out without any intensity in their play with goals galore scored many of which that wouldn't be conceded in a championship game. These two sides met only two weeks ago in arguably a more important game and no goal was scored.

4 point winning margin was probably about right when you go over the 70 plus mins played. 1st half Roscommon were the better side and a 1 point lead didn't do them justice while 2nd half they won it by 3 points when i thought it was fairly even. McVeety,Devaney,Mackey,Kilroy the best performers on the day i thought.

Conditions were much different to two weeks ago. There was actually much more of a nasty edge to this one than the Hyde match.

Clarke trampled Donie Smith in the first half and was a lucky boy not to get the line.

Didn't see it and one incident hardly gave the game a nasty edge. Yesterday had the look of two teams already promoted that threw the shackles off and went out to see who could win a shootout and not only was 8-28 scored but loads was missed also.

Wasn't the only incident.

Cavan played with 14 men behind the ball a lot of the time and with a dual sweeper system. We just cut them open continually. There was lots of instances of patient build up and no aimlessly kicking ball of to double marked players inside. It was a lesson in how to open up a massed defence on a good pitch (and on a good day) where pace can more easily tell. There was no shackles off approach to this game by Cavan.

There was also nothing unique in the way we defended yesterday versus most games the last two years either.
That wasn't a nasty game yesterday no matter how much you try to make it out that way. Well organized blanket defences don't concede 4-16 and it could have been 6-20 conceded. Roscommon defended way better in the Connacht final last year and drawn game v Mayo. A repeat of yesterdays defending will get Roscommon well beaten by Galway or Mayo in this years Connacht final and they won't win a round 4 tie either defending that way against a team likely from Div one.  So much to ponder for McStay and co between now and June.
