GAA Discussion / Re: All Ireland Final tickets
August 31, 2010, 04:15:16 PM
QuoteIf they're that dedicated a ticket usually turns up.

A ticket often turns up to those dedicated to looking for one, which is not quite the same thing. But the season ticket holders are sitting pretty.

QuoteNot trying to be a smartass here, but meteors don't rise, they fall

Your knowledge must be astronomical.

just get a prepaid sim for Vodafone etc and use their webtexts,  telling your mates abroad to reply to your 3 number.

A picture is worth a 1000 words when describing the need to pull a thread.

QuoteI hate the b**tards (

I never thought I say this, 5 Sams, but we are at one mind on this issue.
Onions are rank.

There is a simple solution to this. Vans that are locked in a compay yard pay the commericial rate, those that go home with the driver or the self employed pay an extra €100 or so for occasional social use. But you continue to put your rsi number on the form, if you have a business then you would be taxed as such.

This rule is not new, it has existed for many years, but Irish style people have been happy to sign that their vehicle was only being used commercially when in fact this was not true.

General discussion / Well done Mark Rohan
August 24, 2010, 01:39:30 PM
Former Westmeath U-21 footballer, whose football career was cut short by an accident wins World  Para-cycling medal.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Athlone athlete Mark Rohan secured Ireland's first ever Para-cycling World Championship Gold Medal when winning the H1 Handcycling Road Race in Baie-Comeau, Canada on Saturday.

Riding a very tactical race, Rohan pulled away from the rest of the field in the first lap with the previous World Champion Austrian rider Wolfgang Schattauer.

In the second lap they were joined by the Israeli rider Yakof Lion and it was clear that these three would share out the medals.

On the final climb Rohan and Schattauer increased the pressure to drop the Israeli rider and leave it a two-cat race for the gold medal.

With just 500 metres to go Rohan attacked from behind to overtake Schattauer and held him off in a thrilling finish to win by just two seconds and take the gold for Ireland.

Cork should be able to step up a bit and win this game. But if they do not, it could damage their prospects of ever winning Sam with this team. Dublin would regard a 2 point defeat as a basis for next year, but Cork have been bridesmaid for several years now and really need to close the deal.

Even allowing for the man sent off, things went well for Monaghan against Armagh. This did them no favours, a hard fought game in which they won by a couple of points might have taught them more. But equally their Ulster final performance didn't fully represent their capability.

If all the RCs joined the COI then we'd be free. It might feck up Drumcree sunday though.

Bit of a non story. 90% of people with 5 miles of this station are in the North.

Why does Oisin's Aramgh jersey seem to have a label on it, does he not own one?

QuoteA remarkable column from Tierney, the headmaster.

Ah now, you couldn't always be pointing out nonsense posted by teachers or you'd never get anything done.
