You do recall the guy who got the 6 year sentence (albeit subsequently reduced) for importing the Garlic from China without paying the right tax, and compare it with this type of sentence.

Quote from: AustinPowers on February 12, 2024, 09:17:03 PMThis has bugged  me for a while now , but saw it  again today  and I nearly blew a gasket.

Dates written  Month/Day/Year, like:

February 12th 2024

...instead of the correct way , Day/Month/Year , like:

12th February 2024

Apparently it's  only the Americans who write  it MDY , so why the feck am  I seeing it more and more  in Ireland?

Grrrrr!!!!!

I'm sure you know that American English is more authentic an closer to the original than the English used across the british isles?

Yeah , but surely  you mean  grammatically closer? The numbers/date thing  is a different issue

But that's another  statement that annoys me.  Should be British and Irish  isles, or just Britain & Ireland , or Ireland & Britain.

Work at lot of projects with Canadians, Mexicans and Yanks so we've agreed on the 12-Apr-24 format to avoid any confusion.

Simples

Exactly. And if you used 12Apr24 it would actually take up less space and still be comprehensible, although slightly more difficult to parse.

SF always wanted independents for Ireland, and they are getting their way

Yet there will be endless whining if Derry do reach the All Ireland.

Derry and Donegal not exactly queuing up to guarantee their tickets, which is rather odd as Derry has a good chance of reaching the AI final.

One thing I did notice on the Sunday game at the weekend was the crowds packed into rather informal setups in New York and London, it looked a bit 1970s.

Fermanagh and Cavan competitive anyway.

What sort of score is this in an intercounty game? One thing Jarlath Burns might do is try to get Antrim to take part.

HALF-TIME:
@EirGrid
 Ulster U20 Football Championship Round 5

@Doiregaa
 🟥⬜️ 4-09
@AontroimGAA
 🟨⬜️  0-00

If a Derry player had a red card then it could be material against the likes of Donegal or Tyrone. But Dublin only have to play a couple of handy games where it does not matter a jot.

Quote from: Tones on April 10, 2024, 12:12:09 PMStopping goals is a fundamental aspect to goal keeping, you not agree?

Yes, of course. However, a goalie that is subjected to 10 shots and saves 8 is not necessarily a worse goalkeeper than one that has 3 shots and saves all three.

Quote from: Tones on April 10, 2024, 10:06:12 AMBlaine let in two goals in a dead rubber game, until then 6 clean sheets including a penalty save, very savvy with his kickouts, done very well when he roamed out and about albeit he doesn't do a Lynch, Beggan, Morgan or Rafferty but maybe that's how pundits judge keepers now.

The term "let in" is not appropriate, he had little chance to stop those, the first one in particular as the back passed the ball to a Cork forward.

its a term that is generally used. Nobody actually thinks he just let them in ffs

You can't measure a goalkeeper entirely by the goals scored, the Kildare goalie denied Armagh several chances although we also scored a couple he wasn't the reason.
