Reports were that Connolly was unlikely to play v Rathnew as he was carrying an injury. In fairness he always seems to tog for the club in football and hurling and gives of his best. The greatest players have had poor games. Give the lad a break. On his day he has been among the best I've seen.

He's one of the most professional players in this amateur game in other words he doesn't play club or county football unless he his past fit to do so. His scoring yesterday wasn't much different from his last four games 1-1,0-1,0-1 and 0-1 and IMO a player of his ability should be scoring at least 3 or 4 points from play at club level.

Decades of throwball coming home to roost.
I talked about it before that "modern" inter county football has become more and more low risk and the basics such as kicking and fielding the ball has suffered.

Northern Ireland hanging on in this tie by their finger nails.

Apparently Brian Mullins' son, who plays for Vincent's, has been invited to join the Donegal panel.

Anyone know anything about him? Midfielder I think, which we could use if he's half decent.
Was one of the stand out players in a poor quality Dublin final i think it was said he played U21 with Donegal?

Websites such as Balls.ie,Sportsjoe,42.ie won't know what to do with themselves now that St Vincents Diarmuid Connolly are knocked out.

Well done to Castlebar and Corofin it promises to be a great Connacht final in Tuam. I see Bombers hate and biased views against the rossies has transferred into club level now and all because a few a rossies on here upset him.  Grow up man and move on.

0-0 decent result away however the Swiss are only one goal away from going through as that Irish side are highly unlikely to score two goals in the 2nd leg.

Randolph two saved were poor, knocking the ball into dangerous areas. Murphy no addition to hold up a ball. Can't understand how he starts instead of long who would run channels all day

Possession
    Home71%
    Away29%

Shots
    Home6
    Away0

Shots on Target
    Home4
    Away0

You never know the luck of Irish might weather this storm and grab a decent result on the night yet..

Slaughtneil 19 scores from 21 attempts some accuracy there! Kilcar left to rue all the goal chances they created and scored none. A much better contest than the recent Dublin senior final i watched.

Storming second quarter from Kilcar.

06 to 01 down after 17 minutes. 0-8 to 0-7 up at half time.
HT whistle came at the wrong time for Kilcar.

Soft penalty for Switzerland to give them the lead at time when they were looking to be running out of ideas.

Running out of ideas? Swiss at their ease. Peno was a joke decision but there's only one team on that pitch able to compete
A load of long range hit and hope shots before that penalty a pure sign of a team that was running out of ideas. The Northern Ireland penalty appeal was more of hand ball than the one the Swiss got.

When McClean started playing in England; players didnt have a poppy on their jersey
And back then clubs had a lot more English/British playing with them.
