Has there not only been one other playing Wonka in that time?

Johnny Depp.

Daire Cregg (Boyle, Roscommon)

Would be few complaints had he won the man of the match award. His fellow Roscommon forward Ben O'Carroll who also stood out for St Brigids in the recent All-Ireland club final didn't play tonight was he injured?

James Horan in the recent Irish Examiner podcast on recent criticism by Kildare Chairman Mick Gorman.

'I really felt for Glenn Ryan when I read that. To me it is absolute rubbish'

"I'd absolutely told him to go and hop. Without question. How about a chairman, as they do in other counties, sits down and says, 'Glenn, what can we do to support you? How can we work together for the betterment of Kildare GAA. What do you need to move this on.' Imagine that kind of meeting as opposed to a chairman coming out and pointing at Glenn Ryan and the players. That is what I am seeing.

"I accept we don't know everything. But Kildare have good players. They have underage success. Some of the best managers in the country have gone in there. Jack O'Connor, Mick O'Dwyer, Kieran McGeeney, Cian O'Neill, to name a few.

"Something is not right. We've talked about identity, that is not just about players. It's about everything. A county board, structures, a setup. The whole lot needs to be looked at. Is the ground up to standard? Is the investment there? I'd argue the process, the system around it is as important to provide the setup for the players to be the best they can be. If one isn't right, the other won't be right. Those comments were a mess. It is like Roy Keane's famous one. Look at yourself first."

Hard earned win away to 5th place Villa and even the much criticised Onana played big part in that win.

Led the contest for 50 minutes then gave away a bad goal by failing to clear the ball and leaving Luiz totally unmarked in the box. Match winner a great cross and header, McTominay has proved to be a decent impact sub this season.

Tottenham should finish 4th and that win keeps hopes of finishing 5th alive but will be harder to do without Martinez and today Shaw had to go off injured at half time.

Quote from: Look-Up! on February 07, 2024, 02:54:08 PMPep is a special manager, no question. Klopp too. Both well run clubs, you cannot but be impressed by how both clubs have gone about their business last while, on and off field. Klopp had something very special in Merseyside, it's just unfortunate for them they met the perfect storm in City. Great manager and well run club with an unlimited blank cheque book. That's the only difference between the two.

When Pep goes things will even out. It will be nothing to do with other clubs getting their act together or putting on big boy pants. It will be City regressing. The managerial position is that important. FFP or money will not keep them where they are. Look at Utd, have spent more than anyone but don't have a manager of their calibre.

But for now, cannot see past City and it is getting boring. But it will be interesting to see who their next manager is, who Liverpool get in and indeed who's at the helm in Old Trafford next couple of years. There is a change coming soon.

As you say Liverpool, Man City are well run clubs and both Klopp and Pep can get the best out of their teams in that environment. At United they have gone through numerous managers the last decade and another change of manager won't make a big difference until they become a well run club. Jury is out on what Radcliffe and Co can do now they have control of the sport side of the club.

Quote from: Cunny Funt on February 05, 2024, 02:27:19 PMWith five games to play it looks like three teams (Derry, Mayo and Kerry) are aiming to win the league Dublin might be a 4th if the old guard Fitzsimons, McCarthy, Cluxton,Mannion start to feature in the remaining games.

As for the rest staying up is the prime objective for Monaghan,Roscommon, Tyrone and Galway as all look to get players back and in form before the championship gets up and running.
I don't think Kerry want to win the league.

Jack O'Connor always wants to win national titles and couldn't do so last year because of all the first team players that was missing for the opening rounds of the league.

Top 4 or 5 chances will be much harder task if Martinez is ruled out for the rest of season. Totally different team with him in the side and no like for like replacement.

Hojlund 21 (yesterday) Garnacho 19 and Mainoo 18 are three young players to build the team around in the years ahead.

Love mayo all same.

80% of football is unwatchable muck. Of the remaining 20%, mayo feature in just about all of it.

Love Mayo.

Wasn't a very loveable Mayo performance tonight. Got the win thanks to a little bit of luck at the end and Dublin leaving the win or at least a draw behind them.

Mayo don't have many first teamers to return so were nearly full strength tonight. Dublin still have old guard of Fitzsimmons, McCarthy,Cluxton, Mannion to return yet and had no Murchan, Howard tonight either.

Deserved win in the end but talk about making it difficult for themselves. Game as a contest should have been ended 1st half. Lack of clinical edge, goal from a debatable penalty and the usual poor defending from a set piece allowed Wolves get back into the game.

Fitting United most consistent performer over the last number of games and young talent that is Mainoo was the match winner. A win that could come at a cost if the Martinez injury is a serious one.

Good and very comfortable win for Mayo, started with a strong team and moving very well for January. Galway poor and can't have many complaints about the margin of defeat.

In the 2nd live game I thought that goal should have stood for Roscommon but would have been a robbery had they got anything out of that game.

Tyrone missing some important players and their replacements all did well (helps to have All Ireland U20 team to pick from)

Roscommon lack of strength in depth without Enda Smith,Harney and Brigids players etc showed today.

Doherty, Glass and McFaul weren't named on 26 on the program. I thought a rule was brought in a few years ago that you couldn't change the 26 or was that rule just for the championship?
