General discussion / Latest NI Balls Up
December 09, 2016, 09:59:34 AM
Seems the newly commissioned Strangford Ferry vessel, which was purpose built at a cost of £6M, can't be used as it is unable to dock at high tide as the ramps don't drop down low enough to allow vehicles to disembark.

General discussion / All Ireland Fleadh 2013 Doire
August 11, 2013, 12:41:12 PM
Despite the reservations I expressed previously I'm off today to Doire for the unique experience of a the first ever All Ireland Fleadh in the occupied 6. Tullamore and Cavan brought it to a new level over the past 6 years and hopefully Doire can continue the trend.

General discussion / Willie O'Dea
May 21, 2013, 07:58:47 AM
I saw Willie O'Dea on the TV at the weekend. Does this man not have any friends or relatives who care for him?  Surely if he did some of them would tell him that that moustache of his makes him look an absolute tit

General discussion / Football Boots
May 07, 2013, 11:31:52 PM
My 18 year old is looking to buy a pair of Adidas Predator Mania football boots off EBay costing £299. He's a pretty good footballer but I find it hard to justify spending this amount of money on boots. Any views?

General discussion / The saviour of the Union
January 19, 2013, 05:14:05 PM
If only the loyalist/unionist fraternity could realise, the person who has the best chance of saving the Union is actually John McCallister . His liberal brand of unionism would appeal to a considerable number of moderate nationalists, who might be concerned about going into a united Ireland given the ultra right wing politics that exist there, and would be content with the status quo if there was a bit less of the in your face Britishness, in fact the people who Peter Robinson, in his head would like to reach out to but in his heart cannot

General discussion / Limerick
November 01, 2012, 01:29:10 PM
Just back home after spending  a couple of nights away in Killarney, at the Horslips gig, and then a couple in Limerick. The wife and I had never stayed in Limerick before and I have to say we were quite taken by the place. As well as the usual sight seeing - St John's Castle, St John's Cathedral etc. we also did a number of pubs and the people we met were extremely friendly. Managed to get to - The Glen Tavern, Portley's, Patsy Nicholas, Nancy Blake's, Peter Clohessy's ,Timmy Martin's,, Tom and Gerry's, Charlie Chaplin's, O'Connells Mickey Martin's  and  The Moose.  Will definitely go back.

On a diet and attending Weight Watchers. Put on 2 stone over the summer, from a base of being a fat cnut anyway. Have changed to drinking Coors Light. Is there much difference?

BTW Its 4.30 euro a pint in Dundalk

General discussion / Southern Pubs
September 01, 2012, 11:42:45 PM
Just back from having a few pints in Dundalk with the wife. Went to place we used to go to some years ago and where you would have struggled to find standing room. Pub was empty. Is this the case all over the south?

Can anyone explain why there is a back door route for minor teams in Leinster and Munster  but not in Ulster?
#39
Bizarre situation during a minor challenge match between Armagh and Louth in Darver this afternoon. After 15 minutes the match was stopped when the Louth officials discovered that there were 2 Kildare selectors watching the match. Match was restarted after about 10 minutes after the 2 gentlemen had been shown the door.

General discussion / Fuel Tanker Drivers' Strike
March 28, 2012, 06:14:15 PM
I see the Coalition Government is getting itself in a right tizzy over the possible strike by fuel tanker drivers. Cameron has advised motorists to fill up therefore 'fuelling' panic buying. Another Minister has gone further and advised motorists to stock up on petrol, suggesting that they store some in gerry cans in their garages. If a motorist did so and lets say one of his kids got access to the stuff and set the place alight could that Minister be held liable as it was on his advice the motorist acted?
