I use Outlook Express for my POP3 email account. However the last few days I've been getting this error code 0x800CCC19. I've researched online as to how to fix the problem, but nothing works.

Anyone here experience this problem? Anyone know how to fix it?

Ziggy, I just googled "0x800CCC19" and this came up:

Error 0x800CCC19

1. This is a possible corruption of the pop3uidl file. Close your internet connection and all programs. Search for the file pop3uidl and delete it. Reconnect and it should work.

2. Repeat step 1 with a reboot before you check your mail again.

3. You may have a corrupt or a very large file attachment on the mailserver. Large file attachments, mail that are missing headers, or mail that do not conform to the mail RFC's can cause this.

[Edit] - just read your mail again - you've probably seen and tried all this.

Try microsoft.com - there are numerous solutions there - personally I think your profile is corrupt, try creating a new one.

Are you running Norton Antivirus?

Can you give more info , when does it happen ? What are you doing when it happens?

Must you use OE or would Firebird be an option?
Anyway, long story short... is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling.

Will post up the error message and all details this afternoon.

Re: Error 0x800CCC19
I think the advice you got that this might be caused by problems on your mail server, large file attachments or similar.
If you want to suss out what's on your mail server, this might help.
I have an original, free copy of Popcorn, a simple email client.
It doesn't handle html fies or open attachments so it's mighty useful for checking my own mail and deleting anything I don't want to risk downloading off the server.
(It can't trigger viruses as it can't open them but it can delete an email, including attachments.)
If you or anyone else wants a copy I'll upload it to a site and post the URL here.

I had today off work, so I spent the whole day clearing the computer up. There was 10 spywares on the computer. Email worked after I got rid of them. Seemed to do the trick.

Thanks for your email everyone :)
