no problem per say, im lookin for advice on the best way to capture sun or light in a picture.

an absolute nightmare - first off never take photos directly of the sun - as well as being bad for your eyes it can damage the camera sensor.

shooting sunlight depends on what kind of pictures you want - whether they are landscapes or people pictures.  Just play around with the exposure setting while the camera is on 'A' mode (aperture) and for landscapes bump the aperture up to about f7-f11 for better depth of field.

If you have people in the shots - try to keep the sun behind them, but not directly in front of you - to avoid squinting / closed eyes etc. Using fill flash will help to bring up the details from shadow etc.

It really is a case of trial and error as there are that many settings that can have an effect.

Additional:

ISO - keep as low as possible for bright sunlight - 100 / 200 for detail
White Balance - should be a setting for direct sunlight.

Apart from that take loads of shots - best thing about digital - you can review and delete if it doesnt work out.
