I have a vague memory that free cheese was handed out in the North a while back - 10/15yrs ago - to pensioners?  Think there were other handouts in addition to the cheese.

the good ole intervention cheese and butter was given out to pensioners. There may have been a bit of beef as well.

Strangely enough the wine lakes never made their way over here

QuoteGaltee cheese is a long time favourite of Irish consumers the world over. It is available in block or slice format.
Calvita is a sister product of Galtee being milder and creamer in taste. Indeed it is the first cheese that many Irish consumers were exposed to as children thus it has huge nostalgic appeal

Vote FF and here's a block of Calvita for the childer.

The EEC beef was good stuff as well.

The butter wrecked a load of arteries.

Please tell me you don't commit the mortal sin of Ireland and put flora on boiled spuds?
