Wee update - the boiler is fecked - (I think thats the official term for it!)

Took all your advice yesterday.  Hit the reset button, nothing happened.
So got a neighbour round who has the same system. He checked the radiators, they definitely didn't need bled.

He ended up switching off the electricity at the fuse box which reset the system.

Heating started to work!!  But then when he put the switch on for the hot water, it stopped the heating and it wouldn't go back on again.  He ended up having to turn off the electricity again.
So I currently have a choice - heat in the house or hot water

doesn't sound like  your boiler is fecked 

more like your hot water pump is gone

you need to get a plumber in to check it properly before you go spending a lot of money on something you dont need
