Heard it from a good source (not a word of a lie) that Gooch is going to "Do" his groin at training next week.
The 2 Ó Sé's very doubtful also.

All not well in the camp, so I hear.

Would personally love to see the return of the Puc Fada (or Cic Fada) at the interval break. Used to really engage the crowd and was great enjoyment.
The playing of the mini games has imo been flogged to death and is now plain boring for spectators. A great occasion I suppose for the kids involved so I am reluctant to criticize.
Must be something better around to keep us "entertained " at the break. Artane Boys /Girls Band seems to be being eased out of CP.

Met a few mates for pints last night and this topic came up. All 4 of us agreed that at the moment this would be a no no. Definitely would never buy one in a rural area with the understandable bitterness that it would entail.
2 of my mates made the point about Karma etc

Wondering what the view out there is. I believe there is no stiigma as such in England in buying such repos.

2nd series of this cracking set of biographies of Irish American gangsters now running on TG4 at 10pm Wednesday nights. Well worth a look lads. Last night was about Jimmy "The Gent" Burke........the gangster portrayed by deNiro in Goodfellas. Included commentary from Henry Hill himself.
Previous gangsters covered were Legs Diamond,Mike Mc Donald etc.
Beats watching repeats of Frasier and Two and a Half Men.

Rumour is that the 1st lgue game of 2009 will be under lights in CP. Personally think it is ony that, a rumour, as afaik the Lgue fixtures have not yet been made and it may be a home fixture anyway for Tyrone. The lads on Res Dubs are discussiing it anyhow.

Carrying on the recent trend for lists here are my 5 best and most disappointing places I have visited:-

BEST

1 New York
2 Jerusalem (the place oozes history)
3 Dingle Peninsula
4 Ephesus
5 Fraser Island, Queensland

MOST DISAPPOINTING

1 Bangkok ( a kip)
2 Giants Causeway (sorry lads, but it is tiny compared to its picture in geography textbooks etc)
3 The Dead Sea (smelly, dirty with a scorching sun)
4 Madrid
5 Ayers Rock (not worth the hassle getting there)

Just read a shocking story in the Herald about a young Naomh Fionnbarra hurler (Aged 10) who was killed in a RTA on the way to hurling training.
For what it's worth I would like to offer my condolences to his family.

Hurling Discussion / DUBLIN vs KILKENNY

Great result for the Dubs today, came from 6pts down to draw and but for the referee bottling the awarding of a free in the last minute would have won.
Massive committment and never say die attitude were very evident against the Cats minus their Ballyhale contingent.

The footballers should take note.

General discussion / THINGS THAT P##S ME OFF.
November 30, 2006, 09:22:43 PM
Vaguely remember a thread like this on last board and I need to get it off my chest so here goes:-

1 The mispronunciation of placenames by "Traffic Reporters" on the radio. Not a difficult job to read some report over the airwaves and they still cant get it right.

2 Pronouncing Dun Laoghaire as "Dunleary"

3 The term "Getting on the Property Ladder"

4 Hearing the term "The country is awash with money"

5 Watching plastic bags blowing all over Croke Park on St Patrick's Day and seing the stewards do sod all about it.

6 The term "Paddy's Day"

7 The use of the term "Backswoodmen" by journos to describe anyone who voices a concern about the opening up of Croke Park.

8 Seing signposts on M50 in the summer being blocked out by the trees and remaining so for whole summer. Laziness .

9 Litter.

10 Ger Canning doing commentary.

Rant over. Hope others join in.

GAA Discussion / NOTE TO JOURNALISTS
November 28, 2006, 08:06:09 PM
With CP opening up to Soccer and Rugby in New Year PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not write "humorous" articles about Rugby Fans drinking Heino on northside, getting their Mercs stolen, neding a passport to cross the Liffey, needing directions etc etc etc.
Get impression many Journos follow the Board and would be obliged if they would pass message onto colleagues.

I think I plea in vain but have to try.
