Name any great players that failed to reach or maintain stardom because of their propensity to get injured?
Michael Meehan for one.
Matt Connor's career was destroyed by a car crash . So was Frank McGuigan's.
I always though it was the case with shane o rourke who looked to have everything But it never worked out.
is that what happened Kyle Coney as well or was it just lack of form?
Marty Clarke
If there were awards for persistently coming back from persistent injuries, Liam Doyle, Ambrose Rogers and Eoin McCartan.

Frank was 30 when that happened although is many believe if he'd been there two years later in 1986 Tyrone would have won that All Ireland final. We'll never know. His son Brian came back from two horrific injuries.

Well he spent his best years in Oz. Bar the one he carried Down to the AIF.
Kyle Coney just never made the grade.

strange how many forwards in Tyrone in recent years don't 'make the grade' ... Kyle, Paddy McNiece, Niall McKenna, Raymond Mulgrew and now Darren McCurry. Might be more to do with recent tactics which does not enhance forward play. All still top club players in the county
STYFERUS
i remember him as the outstanding minor and u21 of his generation, went to college got caught up in a keyboard and has never recovered
I always though that if Ronan Clarke had stayed fit he would have had some career. Every bit Sean Cavanagh's equal when they played on the same MacRory team at St Pat's Armagh, great start to his career and then it kind of petered out due to injury.
Lee sharpe
Kevin Reilly battled chronic injuries for much of his career and still managed to be one of the better full-backs in the game.
As the Americans would say, he 'played hurt' more often than not.
I guess you could say Michael Meehan but he was never particularly injury prone until he got a bad injury against Kerry in the league (which he actually recovered from) followed by the killer ankle injury against Sligo which he never really recovered from properly.
Rather than being injury prone it was really one bad injury that did him in.
Brian Hurley Cork,Tommy Walsh Kerry,Donie Shine Roscommon,
Kevin Dyas
Ciaran MacDonald from tipp, unbelievable defender and man marker.
Paul Taylor (Sligo)
Stephen O'Neill
Likely James O'Donoghue fits this category.
Ja Fallon
Ronan Clarke was the first name to come to mind
Has to be Meehan.

He got one serious injury at (or before) his peak! And that injury was insurmountable. He tried many times (with huge pressure) to come back, but it was not to be.

Mine too.
Dermot Earley jnr.
All Star in 1998 right at the start of his career and another at the end of his career in 2009. I doubt he had an injury or illness free year in the eleven years in between.

And mine. Young Player of the Year in 2002 and was robbed of an All Star, having roasted each of the three full backs shortlisted for the All Star full back position. Consistently a top class full forward therafter; could score with both feet and was a brilliant target man, winning high ball or getting out in front of the full back. Was a perfect foil for Stevie. Subsequently won two All Stars in 06 and 08 on the back of trojan efforts for Armagh when there was little in the way of forward support - outside of Stevie - around him. Last match that I can recall him playing was in the last match of the league in Letterkenny on Easter Sunday 2010, when he would have been 26 / 27. An all time great.

Correct. I had one Mayo fan today claim that current management 'unearthed' him!
I wish they would 'unearth' somebody!

In fairness the young players coming through aren't at the level that was there when James Horan took over in 2010. A U21 was won in 2016 but apart from that 2010,11,12,13,14,15 and 2017 Mayo didn't even reach a Connacht U21 final.
