Moy have barely had any possesion since the red card. They are going to have to take a chance at some stage.

No harm to the Moy but they are awful to watch. On saying that some of the diving from those Kerry fellas would do Tyrone. I hate the way that boy referees too.

First time Moy kick ball they get a goal.

Some smash and grab from Moy in injury time. One of those games where probably the better side lost.

well done Moy but that was some chance missed by an gaeltacht's no. 12 at the end.  even if he had passed it over there was a man free.

Well they were hanging onto a lead against the wind and a man down against a team playing a blanket defence.
Keeping possession is probably not a bad option in those circumstances.
Don't forget they were 3 up and looking very comfortable before the slip up for the goal.

The way they were so lucky to win that game you would have to think their name is already on the trophy but maybe the late Dermot Earleys club Michael Glaveys might have something to say about that.

Keeping possession for possession sake cost them the game. An Gaeltacht also played a blanket defence.

That was some move for the goal. An Aussie Rules catch by Colm, bombed it into the square, Sean takes Mark for a dander by the arm and leaves the goal open for Loughran. Rethal.

Jaysus that was hard to watch. Puke football at its finest. Didn't see the sending off but the same man should have been off first half. Some embarrassing dives in the match too. Fair play to Moy for sticking at it. Great fielding and kicking from Colm Cavanagh leading to the goal. Also fair play to Gavin McGilly that will be a Sigerson title and at least an all Ireland final under his belt. Not a bad 12 months

That was shocking stuff where the better team were clearly beaten, Moy got very very lucky; They showed no ambition to win in the last 15 minutes, their manager is a very lucky man as the win had nothing to with anything he did.

Wouldn't have said either team was the better side. Ghealtach had far more possession but never looked like doing anything with it. If a team doesn't shoot in the first 21 minutes then goes 24 minutes in the second half without scoring they don't deserve to win. The fact An ghealtacht didn't score enough against them despite 80% possession makes me question an Ghealtach though. Were they really the better side?

It was because they were too preoccupied with killing time and holding onto rather than putting that dominance onto the scoreboard. They were 3/1 outsiders and won.

A depressing spectacle, but as long as the rules reward the defensive approach it will only get worse. Entirely typical of many club games I watched during the year; the lower the grade, the more defensive it gets. Don't know what the solution will be.

That sums up some of the rubbish talked on here.

On the one hand we had an ghaeltacht the 1/4 favourites considered almost unbeatable at this level. They were second in division one in kerry this year, won the west Kerry championship and won the Munster final by 20 points. They contested an all Ireland senior final just over ten years ago.

They are up against a mid table division 2 Tyrone side that on league form were 23td best in the county. A team that has only won something like  4 games in the last 60 played without their county players. A team that won their first championship in 35 years in Tyrone and with virtually no championship history.

Both teams played defensively and it was tough January football. If anything an ghaeltacht showed less ambition with the possession they had. With 15 minutes to go the Moy were out on their feet giiven the work they'd put in. If they'd pushed up the kerry team would probably have countered and won easy. The Moy stuck to their task and got their rewards when the game was there to be won. Yet after an unbelievable victory against the odds you question their management. That says more about your knowkege of the game that anything.

Excellent post TD. Quite ironic that the FA cup was also on this weekend. I watched a couple of games where a team were clearly at a lower level than the opposition. Their game plan was completely focused on stopping the better team as going toe to toe would invariably end in failure.

The Moy were going there for one thing only and that was to get a result, they did just that against a team operating at a much higher level. Fair play to them and feck the begrudgers.

Of course it's all about the result to the two clubs involved. BUT IT WAS SHOCKING STUFF TO WATCH as a neutral.

It doesn't matter which of the teams was to blame. It's not up to the teams involved to provide entertainment. It's up to them to win! Both teams played the way that they thought they had the best chance of winning the game (you can argue whether the managers got it right tactically or not, but that's missing the point).

The point is, it's up to the rule makers/HQ to provide a sport that is entertaining. It is up to the teams to play within the rules to try to win the game.

I believe rules changes are required, but I'm not sure what exactly the changes should be!

It's going to be broadcast online along with all the other Junior/Inter finals this weekend:
http://www.tg4.ie/en/live/intermediate-club-football-final/ (http://www.tg4.ie/en/live/intermediate-club-football-final/)

Thank you for the link. Its a pity Philip Jordan had to retire through injury he would have been some addition.

Can't make the Tyrone game tonight so signed up to Premier sports for the month. Quick question, do they show score updates from the deferred game during the live match? Don't want the result spoiled!

I'm not sure about deferred ones but think I remember last year them cutting to moments, goals mainly, from the other live game on the other channel.

Yeah I remember that, can't recall if they stayed away from the deferred game. It would make sense to avoid it as many wouldn't want to know the result.

I was half glancing at the Tyrone Dublin game on a  First one tv stream which relayed the Premier Sports deferred broadcast. Around the 65 minute mark, it all of a sudden  reverted back to the first minute of play and continued from there as if this was a normality. Weird stuff indeed considering I don't do drugs or indulge in excess consumption of alcohol.

Think slaughtneil need to sub the full back as he is struggling and could be on a red soon.

Very poor second half in my opinion. Seemed to have been told to go long at half-time as were getting lot of joy doing so in 1st half. Surely with 2 spare men coming out of defence they could spread and run the sliotar. Na Piarsaigh full back line, especially Casey, cleaned up in 2nd half. Rodgers very quiet after a storming first period.

Constantly going long meant the 13 were not killed running.

Premier Sports is a separate subscription channel available on Sky satellite, they cover the sat night live and deferred games. (http://"http://www.premiersports.com/gaa/allianz-league/")
Though good quality streams of Premier Sports are readily available.

If you have an irish sky card and subscribe to some package, one can add Eir sport 1 to your box (http://"https://www.eir.ie/support/eir-sport/eir-sport-for-sky-customers/")
but not on a UK sky card.

It's only if  you subscribe to Eir broadband that the eirsport package comes free as part of that package and that allows you to watch Eirspot online or/and set it up via your skybox already mated to an irish sky card.

To subscribe  to the Eirsports package only, you'd need a skybox already mated to an - Irish card and you pay about Eur25 p/m. You don't need to have any sky subscription, just the irish card.

I generally use a UK sky card, the free one for FTA channels only. I stuck my old irish sky card  into my box today and even though the basic subscription has expired, I can still watch fta channels and the Eirsport free content, the  NFL Alliance preview show.
For me  to get the full Eirsport package on my box with that irish sky card inserted, would cost me.

Mayo v Dublin live. Monaghan v Tyrone deferred.

I think I'll go with Premier Sports as streams from that channel are usually very good quality.

I always got the impression that Cork city was heavily hurling first oriented with Nemo being one of the few exceptions.
Maybe that impacted on his decision.

The video broadcast of the Monaghan Tyrone was excellent and further proof that there is a viable economic and production quality model/template for a broadcast unit which just has a single camera at its disposal  and a good sound microphone,  to capture the sports event to complete satisfaction, for a div 1 league game.

I watched Tyrone v Dublin game deferred a few weeks back and they never referenced the score during the live match which was a bonus.
Afaia the commentator covering the live match didn't reference the score in the deferred game, but while I was in the kitchen during half time, the Premier Sports studio pundit  commenced a half time update on the Monaghan Tyrone game,
but I took a cue from Tony F and rapidly placed my hands over my ears so I wouldn't hear any of the evidence.

Then sometime after the live game and before the deferred broadcast, they showed the (unadvertised) highlights of the Monaghan Tyrone game. I had suspected they might and I managed to avoid those highlights.
Quite brainless from the Premier Sports  channel,   probably the last thing that would dawn on these morons is that there might be a large % of viewers who revel in the mystery of not knowing the outcome of a deferred broadcast.
And as it turned out, a happy outcome for the forces of good.
