I think it's a stupid point. It's competitive because the managers of the teams made it competitive. It didn't magically become competitive. If managers in Munster wanted to make their pre season competitive then it's entirely up to them to do it.

It's a competitive competition. It's Ulster. Not so long ago there was 16, 000 at a Tyrone V Armagh Mc Kenna Cup game.

The problem is the uncompetitiveness of the other provinces. They're brutal. Similar to championship.

Im not arguing that me the McKenna Cup is more competitive than the others, it clearly is. But that is simply due to managers of the teams involved. The teams in other provinces could do the same and then wouldnt be at the supposed disadvantage that Fitzmaurice bemoans.

I think the point being made is even if the managers wanted to make it competitive they couldnt due to the huge gap between the best and the rest in the Province.

Did no-one in the SDLP catch on that there was a clash and have a word with the man?  It was even mentioned on this forum on Thursday. It seems like poor communication all round.

OToole was on the View on Thursday night and when he was asked about McNulty he said that McNulty was expected to be at Stormont etc.
You could tell OToole wasnt happy that McNulty was double jobbing so this was on the cards if McNulty went to the game

County management is a full time role so I'm not sure how the 2 jobs can be reconciled. Add in the 10 or so hours travel and I'm not sure how anyone could expect to deliver as both a county manager and MLA. I remember listening to Oisin McConville and Davy Burke at the end of last year saying how county management was so mentally draining and all consuming so I don't know how he can expect to do both jobs to the level required. I think he should pick one and the county managers job is certain to be the more lucrative!

If Geezer was working as an MLA I can only imagine the criticism he would be getting.

Even should you have an outrageously large 70 litre tank on your car, and manage to arrive in a Go station just as you're about to run out, and do so as a matter of a normal commute rather than going out of your way, then your total savings would be, wait for it, wait for it... £14.

The banks get everyone, every way. A shopowner told me the rates were cheaper for him to use his own cash to fill the in-store ATM, and keep the ATM free, than it was to lodge it in the bank. However, if I'm expected to pay to withdraw cash from an ATM then why should I take the hit rather than the retailer? It's probably at the stage that card payments need to be factored into the price and give discount accordingly for cash.

I tend to be more card now. To the extent it's a nightmare getting £1's for afterschool/ clubs etc. got one of those new thin wallets with no room for coins so rarely have cash at all. Keep the shrapnel in the car for parking/ tolls etc. love the factor bars are card now. Saves a lot of hassle!!

It's like any other service you pay for. Take it out of the bank for free. Can't be arsed to go to the bank, or aren't carrying the cash to cover your needs after hours? Pay for the convenience.
