Quote from: paddyjohn on March 21, 2024, 12:34:26 PMWe'll do them at Snake Mountain. 2-0. Idah with a double

I hope you're right pal...things are def looking a bit brighter now than they did 4 weeks ago.

Rio Hatate played 45 mins yesterday in a arranged friendly with St Mirren, McGregor due back next week too so things are looking up with a visit to Snake Mountain only a few weeks away.

I think the GAA season is too condensed and needs to go back to the old format of September finals, this leaves enough time between games and allows for replays etc. As someone mentioned the club Championships are only kicking into gear around late Aug and September anyway and by that stage there are only 2 teams left in the Championship so it has minimal effect on the Club scene.
Regarding the League finals this will allow the finals to be played leaving 3-4 weeks before Championship time and giving teams a good quality game leading into Championship, some years the league will go the wire and some years it can be wrapped up with a game or 2 to spare but I suppose that's the luck of the draw...we got relegated last year because  of that which was a bit unfair but if we'd taken care of business earlier then it wouldn't have mattered.
Ohh...and while you are at it Jarleth can you please dump that stupid "Mark" rule, we have a good product so stop ruining it.

He had his wisdom teeth removed prior to or just as he transferred to Celtic, apparently he couldn't eat for close to 3 weeks and had lost 8kg in weight. For a guy that light that was always going to weaken him and he lost a lot of muscle, he's now close to his fighting weight and his performances have backed this up...

Agreed...100%. But that's my point, more quality to the squad but not necessarily starters. I'd imagine KMG will be using his squad next weekend to get game time into legs that haven't featured much.

The positivity in a week or two makes so much difference...CCV back playing, Hatate back training with McGregor, Nawrocki and Palma all due back in the next 2 weeks. Yank back available after his 2 week ban and Kuhn looking like the winger we all hoped he'd be. None of us knew his troubles at the start of his career with Celtic and the massive weight loss so it makes sense now that he's coming good. I'm not getting carried away just yet but there's def been an improvement in the games of late which gives us some hope that we can run this title race to the wire, with Kyogo starting to hit some form too we are in a much better place...HH

Yeah there's def a big step up from Div 1 and Div 2, Armagh and Donegal strolled thru the Division this year so it's difficult to know where we're at until we play a good Div 1 Team but all you can do is beat the teams in front of you and we've done that well. As you all have stated it's good to get some young blood into the team and competition for places, I actually agree with the RON scenario...I think we play better without him but he's such a talent that how can you leave him out when he's fit, he looks like he's still some timber to shift and another 4 weeks hard training to get into the legs but for the first time in a long time we have serious options on the bench that can change the game for us.
Armagh still have Cumisky, Morgan and Rafferty to come back too which just adds to the talent

CCV & Hatate trained today so that's a massive boost.

Hopefully CCV is back for tomorrow's game, we cannot have a partnership of Scales and Welsh no more. It should be banned forever, If i was Lagerbielke I'd be flabbergasted on how I couldn't break up that CH pairing.
Anyway a win tomorrow and get to the end of the International break and get McGregor and Hatate back from injury for the run-in is the only chance we have of salvaging this terrible season (so far). Things can change so quickly in a week...

Will Armagh expect their biggest crowd for this years league for tomorrow's evenings game?. Maybe Sat @5 will not suit a lot of people...not sure, it also gives a wet day too so hard to know but i'd imagine there'll be at least 10k there.
My biggest concern about the game is the wet slippery pitch and this could well play into Cavan's hands who look to be the bigger more physical team. It will be more slippery than heavy as the AG pitch is usually in good condition and plays quite hard rather than on the soft side which is good.

Prediction time...

Meath v Cork (Meath by 3pts)
Louth v Fermanagh (Draw)
Armagh v Cavan (Armagh by 2pts)
Kildare v Donegal (Donegal by 5pts)

Ehh, hello. A Civil Servant and no time to themselves does not go together. That's why they join the Civil Service, they'll have all the time in the World to do their "Other Work"

Dooher is not a back office administrator who has little responsibility or accountability. He is the chief vet in the province and he didn't get that job by sitting on his hands and knees so I think that is unfair.

It's very unusual to see an intercounty manager who is not using the GAA as a career tool and both he and Logan deserve a lot of credit for that as it must be stressful and challenging trying to combine the two roles. You need not look any further than Logans recent health issues to realise the difficulties of combining a busy professional career with a county managers role.

Fair enough, prob was a bit harsh there but still they get some time off and Flexi time etc. I'm sure he will have a team around him to delegate the workload too. I reckon he'd have time for calls etc during working hours

It is my understanding from what i heard last night that the UK Government selected Casement as one of their designated grounds for the Euro's, based on that it is the UK Government who will have to cough up the additional funds to back this up. This money apparently is to come directly from Westminster and not from N Ireland's budget, It's pay up or shut up time. If they wanted the Tournament and they selected the Stadium then they pay the extra coin for it, I'm not sure if this does happen will there be any stipulations in the Contracts stating them Reptiles will have so many games in the Stadium even after the Euro's but I hope not and the GAA tell them all to Feck off after the Euro's is over.

I could see in spells that MJ had something about him, he's a really good talent but I think his confidence at Celtic was shot. The Fans were always on his back and I think for MJ's benefit it was best for him to get away from the Glasgow Goldfish bowl. He is the best winger we have fit and he's at another club so let that sink in, the lad will be safer moving on and I really hope it works out for him. Sometimes the Celtic fans can be total bawbags, don't get me wrong MJ can frustrate the life outta you watching him but he has talent.

Well let's call a spade a spade...Cavan are not and shouldn't have been a division 3 team. They're at their level now which is in or around the top end of division 2. If both Armagh and Cavan play to their strengths then I'd have Armagh the slightest of favourites and I mean a point or two so that's how I rate Cavan. Based on that anything can happen on the day and whoever gets that wee bit of luck, we're at home and that is def worth a couple of pts to Armagh and based on that I'm going for 2-3 point win for Armagh. If this game was in Brefni I'd be worried...
