Messrs Vidic and Evra got very close to him on Saturday, with hilarious results...........

If the football authorities are anyway serious about eradicating this from the game then he should be served with a three game ban. I'm sure Big Sam would have a cry then about punishing the smaller teams though.
It's obviously widespread in soccer but a lot of the time when Ronaldo/Gerrard whoever is fouled but they exaggerate the fouling. It's nigh on impossible to prove cheating in those cases.
This boy was clearly not touched and cheating, there's no possible defence so ban him, embarrass him, whatever it takes.

Know it's bad enough already with a few culprits but God help us if the GAA ever comes to this bullshit.

I hate diving, or cheating as it's called. However I seen this at the weekend, and there is an angle that shows that he actually clipped his own heel. Anyone who like me is shite at football will have done this before. I think he assumed that the defender had tapped him, as he was SOOO convinced it was a pen.

This is like saying that someone who punched himself thought it was someone else. (This might explain why Ricey is always fighting though)

We have all tripped over ourselves, but we always knew who did it.  ::)

I think the Rooney incident above highlights one of the major contributing reasons for diving.  Reid clearly catches Rooney illegally (well before Rooney goes down)  this impedes Rooney's ability to get back to the ball and should be a penalty.  90% of the time the ref wont give him in one in that situation.  Consequently he has to go ground with the dive.  In order to eradicate diving referees have to be more willing to reward players who are fouled but try and stay on their feet.

There was contact in each of those, and while I am not accepting the obvious cheating in those clips - Petersen wasnt touched at all!!!!

A proper advantage rule might be the way to go. Ref raises hand to indicate he will give the peno but the player keeps playing to increase the liklihood of a goal.

Main Street

I always enjoyed watching the one where (wannabe) hard man Roy Keane blatantly dived in the box. He was the first player to be booked for diving.
But it's been taken down from You Tube due to terms of use violation.
Must be the Cork Bishop.
