The dishwasher is 8 years old.  Working fine but has developed a small drip at the bottom of the door.  Have check the seals and no obvious rip or excessive wear.   In anyone's experience is it worth gettin a repair man to look at it?

Sounds like a seal worn somewhere or maybe a fitting has come loose. Problem is most of the service lads will charge you 50-100 just to come and look at it. What is the price of a new one? Weigh that against the fact that at 8 yrs old you'll probably be getting new problems with the same call out charges every time. If I were you I'd take it apart and check all the connections and if you can't find and fix it yourself I'd go and buy a new one.

8 years it probably uses electric like there is no tomorrow. A new one will save you in the long run .
Anyway, long story short... is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling.

Funny ours kicked the bucket last week, some handlin' havin' to wash and dry dishes! Forgot how time-consuming it was!

Aye but you could probably say that about every electrical item in the house.

A 3 year old pc is coming to the end of it's days really. You could get a decent unit (assuming you just go on the net , do the odd document) for about 300 inc vat now
