I would easily have him above Dalglish.

Good point about Liverpool in 2019-2020.  They were the best team in the world, no argument about it.

Yes, saw that stat. Not sure if it is a mentality thing or being burnt out from starting most games.

Klopp has left Liverpool in a very strong position compared to where he started.  So that's the ultimate assessment of his contribution.  Changed the culture around the club where the expectation now is the pursuit of excellence on and off the pitch.  There will be regrets over not winning another PL title or another champions league but we know the context around Man City and the PL.  Judge him as well on the finances made available to him compared to other clubs.  Will really miss his infectious personality and sheer presence as will just about all Liverpool fans. He's a one off.

Looks like Slot in for Klopp.  I don't know too much about him, but that doesn't mean much.

Clattenburg has lost any credibility he had, to be associated with them.

Good result and decent performance.  Could see the team get a new lease of life once that goal from Gravenberch went in.

Easy to be less than optimistic though.  Been here before and know the script.  115 charges FC don't tend to  let go once they get in front at this stage.  Just have to keep plugging away and hope.

Quote from: Armamike on April 16, 2024, 03:50:16 PMFrom Kieran taking over until the past 2 years Armagh struggled for years to get a win or two in the Ulster championship and that has been the most disappointing thing for me.  Not being able to beat teams they could/should have been beating over 6 or 7 years.  That's not all down to lack of underage success.  We have though improved markedly in terms of conditioning and tightened up a good bit at the back. Seem better organised these past 2 years but the question is still very much out on whether they can take the next step, i.e. get through tight games and win something or get further than a quarter final.

Not being disrespectful, but 2 very lop sided draws in '23 and' 24 surely helped?

Yes of course but my point was that Armagh couldn't beat any of these teams in previous years.

Liverpool have been wasteful all season given the amount of chances created.  The stats show the conversion rate is around 10th in the league.  But it's gone to new levels in the past 3 or 4 games. It's probably got into the players' heads now. Would like to see young Danns get a start or at least a chance to come on in the remaining games. The current front 3 don't deserve a start.  Unless he's carrying an injury or still recovering from injury, Salah looks done.  If he's not able to contribute anything during the crunch stage of the season then it is time to move him on.

Quote from: lurganblue on April 15, 2024, 09:03:27 AMI have to say Peter Drury wore me down a little yesterday. Repeatedly roaring "And Bakayo Saka" or "And Leandro Trossard" with every half chance. Maybe I should have put this in the gear grinding thread.  ;D

They're all so shouty nowadays. More noticeable on the highlights on ssn. Painful

Fletcher very much like this.

And despite Villa's performances this season Emery never gets linked with the likes of Liverpool and other top teams.  Ok, he didn't do great at Arsenal, but he's a very good manager.

A terrible performance from Liverpool way under par.

Yes i thought that too.  Allison is brilliant at pushing those shots out wide.

Absolute horror show.  Hard to know why they were so poor.  Combination of complacency and not ready for what Atalanta would bring?  The worrying thing is that Liverpool weren't able to turn it around to get to grips with Atalanta as the game progressed.  In fact it got progressively worse.  The now usual level of wastefulness didn't help in the first half.  Will be very interesting to see how the game goes against Palace and whether this is a one off or indicator of a slump in form.  Not a good point in the season to start losing form, but hoping that the likes of Jota, Trent and Allison coming back will give things a freshening up.  Salah and Nunes could do with some bench time.

Don't know if it's an issue of not wanting to follow Klopp. Maybe Alonso is being sincere in wanting to continue his work at Leverkusen. The cynic in me thinks it's more of a case of him bidding his time for the Real Madrid job, where his heart really lies.  Even if he did come to Liverpool, if he was doing a decent job he'd be forever linked to Real, which would be a bloody distraction.
