who ever videoed that and shared it should be ashamed of themselves (they won't be) NL is a guy who clearly has issues and has spoken openly about facing up to them and spoke about his mental health problems. Nobody should be subjected to being videoed at their lowest for cheap laughs, disgusted at this. Neill Lennon was not a good football manager and I was glad to see him getting the road but people really need to wise up if they think this is funny or something to gloat about

8. 2021 Club Window Provisions
•   Important to note that we still do not have permission to return to club training or games yet (only training in pods of 15 allowed in the North)
•   However, calendar is set up in such a way that:
o   Club competitions with county players can take place as County teams exit the Championships (in football, teams start exiting from the end of June; in Hurling July 10th) [RESTRICTIONS PERMITTING]
o   From August 1st, all Counties bar All Ireland Semi-Finalists in Football and Hurling, and the teams in the Div 1 Hurling Relegation play off, will be free to stage club competitions with county players.  [RESTRICTIONS PERMITTING]
o   Additionally, the commencement of the Provincial Club Championships will be delayed until Mid-November.
o   Provinces have been requested to ensure Clubs from teams in the senior inter-county All Ireland Semi-finals and Finals will not be involved in the earliest round of the relevant Provincial Championship (where possible).
•   Senior Provincial Club Championship will most likely start in or around the weekend of Nov 20/21 (dates to be finalized by each Provincial Council).
•   All Ireland Senior Club Finals are provisionally scheduled for the weekend of February 12th/13th 2022.

thinking outside the box but does this mean we can start club league competitions WITHOUT the county players??

Strange wording in that indeed looks to be pointing that direction alright.

I think its pretty much to say club championships cant start to after, if its put to clubs that leagues to be played without county players id say most would be agreeable.

I'd say the clubs will be chumping at the bit to get this up and running regardless of county players or not... Whether its a no promotion relegation format for the league is not a problem.

link the relegation to championship, clubs who haven't had a chance to win promotion last year deserve a chance at it this year but equally clubs dont deserve to be potentially relegated due to having players good enough for county unavailable, would def be workable.

thats a great article, I find myself turning off a lot of games myself just because its not really that entertaining unless you've a dog in the fight and unfortunately as an Antrim man thats not very often! I actually really enjoyed seeing a lot of club games that were available over the summer there, I think il try catch more club games either live or online in the next year rather than watch the dross thrown up at county level, as previously said the obsession with stats over style has completely ruined the spectacle

 I can’t watch Ireland anymore. I want a side that can win and at international level ya have to play the hand you’re dealt not the one you want. O’Neill & McCarthy both done that with decent success. Built from the back and tried to play percentages with a team that is hard to beat. Kenny is trying to play possession football with players who aren’t capable of it at that level. If we can’t successfully play that type of game against Luxembourg, what the hell will happen when we play a decent side, it needs ended and it needs done soon

Currently 160 inpatients plus 15 icu and hospital occupancy at 96% according to COVID ni dashboard.

I see your logic there you've taken the 160 by admissions, if you look at note 3 it says that it includes people who have been admitted for other reasons but subsequently tested positive for Covid.

if you look at the heading for general bed capacity it gives a better breakdown, 116 Covid occupied beds 2636 other, 83 awaiting admission = 2835 which is 96% of the 2961 available. so in percentage terms Covid is taking 5% of beds in hospitals at the minute. even if it was the 160, its between 5-6% of beds. Again im not saying this isnt an issue, but when you look at the numbers completely bombing on a week by week basis and the vaccine roll out to the vulnerable being so good I think the hard questions need asked of the executive. they say these are hard decisions, well actually its the opposite, its easy to keep the status quo and keeping going along. the hard thing would be to put the work in to make things open up in a safe way to allow people who are really struggling to get a lifeline back

The measures put in place have only ever been half baked and now there is almost no way out of them.

On a note of the NHS in the north. There are currently ~170 give or take in hospital with covid and the hospital capacity is at 96%. The health service really is creaking here

where are you getting your stats? in ICU as of yesterday there were 14 beds occupied with Covid 69 as other and 21 free beds. in the general bed terms there were 118 Covid occupied 2624 non Covid and 119 unoccupied. so 14+118= is 132 in hosp with Covid. I stand to be corrected but thats just lifted straight from the dashboard. ive said it before and il say it again, its not the publics job to 'protect the NHS' its the government's job to properly fund the NHS and give it the resources required to function. the Covid numbers are not what has the NHS 'cracking here'

The problem is that there is no quick way to expand health capacity, this is something done over decades. If the public has elected a government that has not provided that capacity then it must live within it.

im not disputing that, but at the minute we are still in a state of lockdown incase cases surge and put the NHS under stress, im pointing out the stress on the NHS at this moment isn't down to Covid exclusively its been years of cuts and terrible mismanagement. I just dont see how, when looking at the figures and the direction we are going along with the data coming out of Isreal that we are at the stage we are it just seems crazy. again, not saying fire everything open but the vaccine really is being proven to be the silver bullet yet the govt are still looking a the numbers as if there is no vaccine at play, I find it really strange

Clubs will be back training come the 12th you can have 15 training, if you’ve two pitches then you can have another 15, the south started before the north last year.

Thats it, its a load of hot air I think to suggest otherwise, hopefully games won't be too far behind but getting people back out in a team environment will be a massive lift for people

Wat a lot of none sense talked about the free staters stopping the kids in the 6 counties training if they r allowed ... even croke wouldn’t be that daft ?

No chance, it would be the stupidest thing the GAA has ever done. I know there are kids who are playing other sports who will soon probably give one up in the next year or so, so if next month them kids can go play soccer or rugby but not football or hurling where do you think they are more likely to stay?

What I have to laugh at is the GAA saying they are a community organisation but give zero thought to the young people in the community up here who by law will be free to train and get back at it but the GAA are possibly gonna say no. I really can’t see it. All they have to say is club action can resume in line with local government guidelines, that literally solves all the issues.

SF have made some balls of this one.  Any criticism of them is well justified IMO.

I, like many others, am conflicted on the abortion issue, but the stance of SF on this was very clear - until that farce last night.

Anyone voting SF because of their previous stance on abortion would be 100% justified in feeling that they have been royally screwed over.

It remains to be seen whether this will hurt them in the polls (lost voters replaced with Aontu types?) - but it should.

Im also conflicted and its a very sensitive subject that if you asked 100 people in private what they thought you'd prob find a lot of people would have a different answer than if you had a public show of hands. SF has scored a massive own goal With this. for reference, I have always voted SF. But with the direction they are going and a leadership who clearly aren't up to leading I won't be voting for them again and I know plenty who are feeling the same for different reason. im sick of the politics of just whatever the DUP say say the opposite, the political system here with power sharing is set up to fail.

The handling of the pandemic has been terrible from our govt in general not just from a SF point of view, but what it has done is shine a light on how broken our system is. I dont know who ill vote for when election time rolls around, I dont really know enough about Aontu but I will have a serious look at what they are about to see if it aligns with my feelings at the minute.

SF take mine and plenty of others votes for granted and therefore anything controversial they try and avoid it, not anymore for me.

I would work in what I assume is a completely mixed environment where I would assume most people wouldn't even know what religion most other people are. It doesn't come up as no one cares.

Main hobby outside work is running and that is the same. Never comes up.

snob, you probably shop at Marks and Sparks and meet up with your muckers for "coffee" and a quick flick though the FT, there are literally no working class mixed areas(probably a few but very very little). PLus we all know  religion within 3-4 questions, where u from, what school you go to, whats your name, what sport u play?

I would live in a fairly predominate prod area, though its not an estate.. I was out at my mums one day and the kids were around 5 or 6 and being heavily involved with my club I'd been looking after the under 12 hurling teams for a few years, so the garage completely stacked with hurls, helmets cones and balls..

We'd be living there about a year or so, so usual chit chat and nothing like asking where ya from and what school di ya go to, not the done thing in fairness around there.

 Anyways back to the story, my wife gave me a call and said you may get back to the house and oversee the game Amy (my eldest daughter) has arranged in the street, I pulls into the street, its a cul de sac and low and behold there was a full on street hurling match on, Amy had the kids in the street into teams and helmets on and nets (cones) arranged striking the soft hurling ball up and down the streets.. I didn't have to announce to anyone in the street that I was from the Falls, my kids did it for me!

Be a cold day in hell before I offer any congratulations to them. They truly are the scum of the earth.

Same, if anything, I'm hoping history repeats itself, last time they got 1 up on us by beating us in a cup semi where they got on their soap box giving it the big one. We went out got BR and won the next 12 trophies available. lets dust it down and go again.

Prob be a spike now after the scenes throughout the north last night, infuriating that these morons will prob mean we are set back weeks, peoples lives and livelihoods on the line and the cops allowed that to happen, complete disgrace. and for the record id have the exact same view if it was Celtic/ Liverpool/ Man Utd/ Linfield or Cliftonville fans, morons of the highest order.
