Conor Bradley put injured which could be a factor in why Trent is back at right back, Bradley had a great season at Bolton last year
Can he still play for the Republic or is it too late?
Too late now I would think

I would think McEvoy would be in with a great shout for young player of the year

100% deserves it. A class act. Don't think Kerry or Dublin have any young lads to get it? Unless Lee Gannon is that young?

Honestly tho k they should have put him on Clifford rather than McKaigue, reckon he would have done a better job. Going to be a top class player by the look of it

Hopefully it's a sign that these sectarian hatefests are getting less popular.

This will lead to a bumper turn out this year and the fall away again next year. No one wants to walk 10 miles and listen to hymns anymore when you can stand, drink and piss in the street for the day!

It's basically turned into to a rave in Sandy row now. Which is the issue for the elders.
It's a day on the beer on sandy row
Similar to saint patricks day in the holy lands

Not much temperance and religious fervour
Had the pleasure of spending a 12th of July on the 10th floor of the city hospital tower block with the Mrs one year, Birds Eye view of Sandy Row. Pure piss session then at about 5 o'clock a crowd of lads (50 odd) came from Shaftesbury Square direction and an unreal riot started between them and the Sandy Row crowd, kicked absolute shite out of each other, bottles, sticks and everything. Went on for about 10 minutes before the cops intervened, at least 20 taken to hospital, started firing stuff at the ambulances too and one ambulance man got assaulted. It was class viewing, funny enough though not one mention of it on the news that evening

Would  urge all to tread lightly and with any compassion that can be mustered. This thread could take a very rough turn but it's all relative and we are never in control of all the facts.

I've known him since we went to school together. A very smart man in his topics of interest, his posts were most informative. But he was socially and emotionally on the shorter side of the stick. Would have endured loneliness at best and bullies  at worst as a teenager and young man. Having a family member in this kind of space myself - it's not quite vulnerable adult but it's also not fully fledged everything is going well type adulthood either. Unless you've lived it you never have a clue what these individuals endure in their formative years. It's heartbreaking.

It's a horrible event, I'll be glad to hear when the injured parties and scared children etc involved are improving. And I hope he gets the help and structure he needs.

Edit: I'd noticed his posts here and his social media presence had dissappeared last year and was worried. I really do hope he gets some help as all was clearly not well when that happened.

Well said Puckoon, this was definitely not the man we both know. Life has not been easy for him and has lost some family members in the not too distant past, things were obviously not all well with him. My heart goes out to his family as I am sure they are very afraid for what lies ahead of him. His father would have been at the game and is as diehard a GAA man as you would ever find, he himself has not been physically well of late and after losing a daughter this is the last thing he would have needed. This is not a good situation

From twitter:

Not condoning or excusing what happened at Cookstown tonight, but the person involved is apparently a vulnerable adult with special-needs.
People should consider this before commenting or jumping to conclusions about what happened.
This is true and it would be totally out of character

Folks I know Fionn and his family, this is totally shocking and my heart goes out to his own family who have went through a lot in the past few years. Regarding Fionn this is totally out of character but I know that he does have his own problems so maybe better to say as little as possible about this. A proper thinking Fionn would never do something like this in a million years

The good news is the Kerry media men only have 5 days to bad mouth Tyrone and influence the referee this time, but watch how they give it a go anyway, Tomas got it underway saying Tyrone have their nastiness back, the rest will row in soon

Was that Donaghmore team the team that won the u20's minor champions from 2 years ago, was it Carrickmore, or was their no u18 Championship 2 years ago?
The drop to u17 and back to minor has thrown me but my memory has it as follows:

2022 u17: Donaghmore
2021 u18: Donaghmore
2020 u18: Carrickmore
2019 u18: Killyclogher
They would be about 1/10 in the bookies to win this years U18's too, very very strong

The new trial rules about the kick out having to cross the 45 and the on where free kicks must go forward do not make sense, they are going to encourage mass defence. If keeper is hitting a kick out then obviously all the other teams forwards are going to go back to midfield as they know that's where the kick is going, they are going to behind the opposition 45.  Same for the free kick, if you give away a free and you know it can't go backwards then obviously you and probably everyone on your team is going to be goalside

Tyrone V Galway:

Niall Morgan;
Michael McKernan, Ronan McNamee, Padraig Hampsey;
Conor Meyler, Cormac Quinn, Peter Harte;
Brian Kennedy, Conn Kilpatrick;
Frank Burns, Michael O'Neill, Joe Oguz;
Darren McCurry, Matthew Donnelly, Darragh Canavan.

Subs:
Benny Gallen, Ruairi Canavan, Aidan Clarke, Niall Devlin, Niall Kelly, Kieran McGeary, Michael McGleenan, Cormac Munroe, David Mulgrew, Sean O'Donnell, Niall Sludden.

Will be close to what starts. Harte maybe closer to goal than last time out. Good to see Clarke among the subs. What's score with r Donnelly and McShane?

Nathan McCarron slipped off the subs list as well (impressed me this year)

I was hoping for something left-field at 6 - ie a reshuffle to get Hampsey in there, or bringing in Peter Teague. Having not appeared all year, we can conclude its not happening for Teague this year again. Niall Kelly would have been an option in there too. Its a glaring weakness this year.

Frank Burns & Mickey O'Neill at 10 & 11 really did not work out the last day. Obviously the numbers on the jerseys mean nothing, but you wouldnt want to see us repeat the same mistakes again & again.
Has been dropped from the panel by Dooher and Logan.
Peter has been injured since the club championship last year

Some great pubs mentioned here. Old Tom's in castlewellan and Lowry in hilltown.  Bowes is good, careful though you could drown in the urinal. Gravediggers in glasnevin is magnificent
You won't get a better pint in Dublin. Forget mulligans.  Special mention to 2 gems in Sligo. Hopkins in Enniscrone and Austies in Rosses point. Guinness doesn't get better.  Packies in Donegal. I haven't a clue where it is though. I was driven to it by a local. The owner a lovely man serves a magnificent pint.
Is that Packies in Lettermacaward (basically old house in the middle of nowhere? Great spot
