General discussion / Car Insurance Claim Question
January 15, 2008, 07:55:26 PM
Hey lads - just wondering if anyone out there can give me a bit of informed advice on an insurance claim.

I crashed my car a couple of nights ago (no one else involved thank god) and have been quoted about €4,000 to patch it up - good bit of body damage.  I was going to put it through the insurance but everyone has been advising me against it as they say the insurance will rip me off!  I have fully comp cover and the car is only worth about €8,500.  Due to my being out of the country for a few years i have no no claims bonus anyway and have only a provisional licence despite me being 25!

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of something like this? - i don't see the point in having fully comp insurance if you cannot flippin' claim for half the value of the car but at the same time i don't want to get totally screwed for the next five years by my insurance company.  Any informed advice or info on your own experiences would be greatly appreciated as i cannot exactly afford to pay out €4,000 in cash (who can?) and obviously need to decide what I'm doing asap.

Cheers in advance - htg.

i have no doubt that the work is being put in by the indivdual clubs and they deserve credit for it, however that work can only go so far if the county board won't meet them half way!  In the meantime keep up the good work  :) - as an aside keith higgins was superb that day

How much work and more importantly money are the Mayo county board putting in to developing hurling in the county? I travelled down from Galway to the county final between Ballina and Ballyhaunis a couple of weeks ago in Charlestown and the divide between the teams was fairly big - a game like this might be expected in the early rounds of the championship - but in the final? - wasn't the best advert for mayo hurling or the work (or lack of) being done by the county board on promoting the game.  What are the views of players involved in hurling in Mayo?

A quick question for those of you at the Crossmolina game - was it a case of the three games in three weeks catching up with the deel boys or is this being unfair to St. Brigids?  In other words do St Brigids now look like they're good enough to be in with a good shout for the Connaught title - if so they must have improved quite a good deal since last season.  I suppose as a Galway man yesterdays result looks like good news for Corofin (at least on the face of it) but perhaps this will prove not to be the case.

On another note congrats to Tourmakeady - would have a family connection out that way so its good to see the men in black getting a bit of silverware!!
