Quote from: Tony Baloney on Today at 01:40:31 PMSome of you lads could start a row in an empty room.

This. I may have half started it so I feel partly responsible 🤭

I had other points to raise but I'm fcuked if I'm going there now lol

I've looked at certain sports/sport stars over the years and thought they were boring twats, in snooker ya had Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry, just machines at the time and focused on nothing else, Golf/tennis was the same with the newer generation, but since Netflix has done various inside documentary type shows its really brought about a different perspective on these sports and sportsmen/women, in a more positive light

Not that I think Netflix will go near snooker just yet as the global appeal might not be there.

But loving the banter here though ;D

Snapchap will be straight on to Netflix to make sure they feature Mark Williams ;D

Not sure what the issue is. I just assumed Ruairi McCullagh overtook him and he was dropped.

That was a hell of a score by Conor Owens for the equaliser. Seems to have fallen down the pecking order but to come on and do that when the pressure was on was superb.

Quote from: gallsman on Today at 09:27:01 AMAs an aside, and not directing this specifically at you, people can't simultaneously complain that they want to watch Ronnie but bemoan the perceived lack of new talent in the game.

Does it have to be one or the other though? You can still enjoy watching Ronnie (despite him being a dick) but also like to see new talent coming through. I also wouldn't describe 3 of the 4 semi finalists as new talent as such. And with Jones it remains to be seen whether he can kick on whatever happens in this tournament. He has been a pro for 14 years now and made little impact.

Agreed on Trump. You can call a lot of the players risk averse but to say Trump plays like that is ridiculous. He would probably have won a lot more if he was a little less mercurial.

Quote from: square_ball on May 01, 2024, 10:02:56 PMThat's as bad a semi final line up as there's ever been.

Jones v Bingham
Wilson v Gilbert

What happened to big Ronnie Selby and  Higgins?

Who are Jones and Gilbert?

They've all been shite. Poor standard all round this year. Can't imagine that semi final line up will capture the imagination of the neutrals. David Gilbert was in the semi final a few years ago but bit of a journeyman player. Jak Jones is a Selby lite. Hard to watch.

Snooker on its last legs. No young players coming through. A quick look at the draw this year and there's a handful under 30.

With the H is how they'd say it around Coalisland where Hampsey is from so that must be good enough for Tommy.

Now using Coalisland dialect as a reference may not be the wisest move for a commentator but I will give him a pass on this one.

Phenomenal
Most powerful one yet

That's me done. For now

Whats wrong with this one? Thats how you say it is it not?

The podcasts are grand. Don't listen to them all but would dip in and out of them. Niblock is a decent interviewer but definitely goes down the 'powerful' route too much that now I just don't believe him any more ;D

That's not too bad a draw. An extra week rest as well having drawn the Ulster winners. Toughest game out of the road first then should be beating Clare and Cork. Though Cork were decent against Kerry a few weeks ago.

Allen never have a better chance of getting to the final with the draw he had there. Threw that away. Be hard to get over that for him.

Quote from: trueblue1234 on April 29, 2024, 09:15:50 AMAm I the only one thinking our conditioning is below were it should be? I thought in the 2nd half of normal time, a good few of our men stopped making the runs that we had been making in the 1st half. Think new legs then could have made a big difference. But management have been slow to implement changes. Oguz A big loss in that regards.

Spot on - conditioning has been a problem for me for a number of years (since P Donnelly has left). It was never an issue when he was about. The energy started to drop after 15 mins in the second half and the defensive line dropped a few yards which let Mogan and McGonnigle hit big scores that help Donegal get the momentum back (as well as a few bad turnovers from McShane and McDonnell).

RE: the bench, McGuinness hasn't a lot of faith in his bench also as I think he brought O Baoill back on again

True but by accident or design he at least seemed to have a plan for how he was going to use the players he did have faith in. In saying that it doesn't do much for the confidence of the players that he didn't use from the bench (and same for the Tyrone lads too).

Quote from: gallsman on April 29, 2024, 01:21:58 PMHave always found Buff to be an eejit of the highest order. I'm not his target market but felt as if he'd disappeared for a while. His take on the foul restart was the first time I'd come across him in a couple of years.

Feels like he was going out of the way to be contrary.

I don't think Buff would have the wit to try and be contrary.

Quote from: square_ball on April 28, 2024, 08:51:06 PMLack of any sort of strength in depth killed us today. One enforced sub and another in the 63rd minute in normal time tells the tale.

Can't fault the effort and performance and probably should have seen it out in normal time. Once it went to extra time we were always going to struggle particularly with the lack of changes made.

Hopefully Meyler and Harte will be back for the group stage. I'd be expecting QF minimum and then after that who knows.

Our refusal by the management to use our bench killed us today. Yes, they may lack experience but if they were good enough in ET last week then surely they were today. To throw away a 3 point lead with 15 to go and then a 1 point lead deep into injury time was very disappointing.
Once Donegal went ahead, you never felt we would win

Yeah management obviously didn't trust or have belief in the lads sitting behind them. Making those 2 changes with 2 minutes of the extra time to go was a waste of time.

Seen Oguz walking about in a sling and I think it was Liam Gray with a heavy enough looking leg brace on as well yesterday. Be surprised if they were back for the rest of the season based on that.

Ideal group would be something like Mayo, Clare and Meath. Worst case scenario would be Dublin, Armagh and Cork.
