What a complete knob this man is, he basically whored his party so he could get the nomination for Justice Minister.  His comments about Bloody Sunday only serve to make him look like a bigger p***k.
Middle of the road party me arse, if I ever see him on the middle of the road I would run the runt down.

General discussion / Justice at last for Thomas Devlin
February 25, 2010, 10:56:49 AM
Great to see those two murdering scumbags convicted yesterday.  Interesting criticism of the PPS by Thomas' Mother also, it seems the family's determination to get justice ensured this was brought before the courts as originally the PPS felt they would not get a murder conviction  ???
The police never actually classified this killing as sectarian either.
Jim Devlin said on the news last night it was a miracle that it was not three teenagers murdered that night.

Not sure if there was a thread on this already, unbelievably there is nothing about this story on the RTÉ news website.

General discussion / Alzheimer's disease

Did anyone see Spotlight last night about this?  A truly horrible condition and the number of sufferers is going to multiply significantly in the next few years.

Neil Hannon's Dad was interviewed and he has been suffering with it for over 5 years but still seems pretty well medicated, I would say he would have access to better treatment too though as money would buy you better treatment.

As usual all the cutting edge support for sufferers is East of the Bann though.

I know of a few people who have a Parent with Dementia and it is a massive struggle and strain for the entire family.

General discussion / The Official Tennis Thread

Not sure if we have one or not as the search function is not working!

Anyway, Murray is two sets to love up against Nadal in the last 8 and Nadal looks in trouble with a knee injury.

This guy deserves his own thread, great chanter and can still pull amazing looking birds at his age. Respect the Rod  :P
Loved his drum kit too.

General discussion / Ronan Tynan in anti-semitic row
November 16, 2009, 11:30:24 AM
Seen him on the Late Late on Fri night, in my opinion it seems much ado about nothing. It highlights again how careful people in the public eye have to be.  I have great sympathy for him though, massive over reaction.

Saw that it was the 40th bithday on BBC Breakfast this morning, it was a great show as a child and lets be honest you can still enjoy it today  :-[  Exactly the sort of show kids should be watching, educational and enjoyable.
We have plenty of Sesame St like Characters on here too, Oscar the Grouch anyone???

Anyone catch this show last night?  The man is fantastic, he has so many stories, would love a night on the lash with him.

General discussion / Derval O'Rourke
August 20, 2009, 11:45:38 AM
Surprised no one mentioned this yet, Derval set a new National record finishing 4th in the 110mts hurdles World final last night in Berlin.  Great achievement to go along with her World Indoor 60mt title.  Was disappointed RTE did not have live coverage of the race last night, most probably a rights issue.

General discussion / Talkback
August 11, 2009, 11:43:28 AM
I see that the Beeb have moved David Dunseith aside in favour of Wendy Austin of all people!  Just don't think it will be as good anymore, I have always admired Dunseith as a broadcaster and think he is excellent on Talkback, very fair.  Plus it was always a good laugh hearing the knobheads making an ass of themselves during the phone-ins!
Another example of BBC ageism?   Wendy is no spring chicken herself in fairness though.

Not sure what to read into this, obviously the family of Aidan are the most important people here and I have and will always support their wishes, just hope they are satisfied as they have suffered for 21 years now.

This thread is like therapy, it allows you to 'discreetly' reveal your admiration for someone that in all honesty you could never imagine liking normally.

Watching the tennis last night I couldn't help but cheer along for Andy Murray, I always cheered against Henman and Rusedski so I feel like I am betraying myself, but can't help it I am caught up in the 'Andy-mounium'

Whilst I'm at it, I really like Joe Brolly too - f**k this feels good.

What the hell is going on with the dissidents??  They seem intent on seriously harming a high profile republican and it will happen sooner rather than later if these attacks keep up.

Why did they not put a candidate up for election today so we could garner how much support (or lack of) they have  ???

Crazy decision, but bound to push up sales.  Looking forward to this album myself, it is based on Richey Edward's last lyrics.
