I pulled some video files from a DVD onto my PC, with the files being in VOB, BUP and IFO format.

is there a free player that can show the videos?

I've used VLC Media player in the past and have not found any file it couldn't play.

Perfect. Thanks.

No. But I have used Google support a few times and it is brilliant. It's how IT support should be. They know their products inside out - hardware and software. Always sort the issue. I'm migrating everything in my business to Google. All the guys have Pixelbook laptops. Next thing will be the phones. Currently use Apple as our supplier but will be upgrading to the Pixel phones.

Why would you move to Pixel phones? Unless your business has something to do with a requirement to take the best photos possible on a smartphone, you can buy a perfectly adequate corporate device for less than half the price of a Pixel.

Google close out security issues (and issue updates to the phone) on Android faster than anyone else (including Apple on iOS).

If you go work OnePlus you'll be a month or so behind the pixel.

True. But it's nice to have a lovely device in your pocket. It's a perk. That's why we currently use iPhones. But we've been impressed with the Pixelbooks and want to have symmetry across the devices our business uses. I previously supplied Macbooks but was disappointed with how them seemed to lose processing power overtime.

Anyone recommend a reasonably priced laptop for general browsing and perhaps the odd assignment and updating CV etc?
All in, what could I get along with Office 365 and Anti-Virus software?

Depends on what you can pay,
Go for a screen size  15.6", 8mb memory and a ssd hard drive -  for browsing and doing word documents
Go for a Dell if you have eur850
You'll find plenty of cheaper laptops in non-specialist retail electrical outlets eg Currys, DID etc, usually these are out of date and redundant. One clue is the  4gb memory specification. A minimum these days is 8gb memory.
Even just for browsing, you'll still need a decent specced laptop.

For most uses the last generation of processor might not be a problem but 8GB of ram is a definite to watch out for.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

Get the likes of bitDefender for free instead of paying for anti-virus.

Paid solutions usually aren't worth what your putting down for them - most are as bad as any virus at grinding your computer to a halt!

laptopsdirect.co.uk is a good place to start - it has excellent filtering on the left sidebar - and dell do good laptops as well (although their website is embarassingly bad).

[And you'll do far better work and do it quicker using a proper big monitor than any laptop screen - worth bearing in mind if your assignments are sizeable.]

>= 8GB RAM
>= 120GB SDD

If you aren't gaming then GPU doesn't matter, neither really does CPU, you won't get one that will not do what you need it to.

I'd pick the AMD. Then get Office 365 yourself - or use libreOffice for free instead.

can anyone tell me if this is worth buying...

I was considering a Mac book Pro 13" 2019 but for the price it doesn't compare to the Zbook.

Folks, thinking about a Chromebook for the eldest fella (10) for Christmas. Any recommendations? What should I be looking our for?

Guys I have Celtic TV (yearly subscription) but jumped in feet first before reading what they actually show and all their home games are shown live to people outside UK and Ireland. So if you live in Ireland or UK all you get the live audio but not video...The question i'm asking is can you hide/block your IP address so they won't know where you are and then watch the poxy matches which i signed up for?
I can swim a little but i can't fly an inch

Not sure if it is good value, but it is well specced.
