Good intelligent post high fielder. I think any manager/county board would have done the same.
Hes a big loss. As is evan. Especially against such a defensive side. We still might do it if donie and ross
have a good game but i put carlow as favourites now.
As Don says we just cant help ourselves in this county. There always seems to be some bullshit.

Anyways best of luck to the lads.

He made a mistake. He deserves to be dropped for the final.  Then draw a line under it and be
back for the championship. Headwreck for sugrue having to out up with this shite..

Has the potential to be a fascinating match tatically ..

It was a grossly insensitive and stupid  thing to say. Hes his own worst enemy. Fair play to Sugrue.
Dropping him is the right thing to do.

Missing a lot of heads tomorrow. I think carlow will edge it.

The table doesnt lie. We are where we deserve to be. Division 4 is our lot.
We have been average playing the 5 worst teams in the country.
Carlow are a bit of a step up. I think it will be close. Dismissing Carlow would be foolish. Their curve is upward,  ours
Has been downwards for a long time.
Its impossible really to know where we are at. Sunday will tell us more.

Best of luck to the lads.

Im not adverse to the odd rant but I agree that some of the pointless swearing takes away from the forum.

Fair play to sugrue.. hes speaks well.. its only division 4 but we still have to go and do it ..
Donie has been a magnificent player for Laois but if hes not willing to put in the work
Hes no divine right to walk on to the team ..
If lads arent 100% into it .. best off without them .. that said i expect the most talented Laois player i have ever
Seen play to knuckle down and come good by chamionship time ..

Would be nice to get a genuine update from people at the game rather than pointless glib comments

I dont think its such a bad thing donie leaving .. hes carried the team for years .. he prob just not enjoying it anymore
He needs a break .. let sugrue develop a young team without the temptation of having to get it to donie every single time. I dont care if ythe older crew dont commit .. time for a new start .. were rock bottom now so weve nothing to lose .. donie will hopefully come back next year .. refreshed into an improving setup .. its gonna be a long journey back

The future of small counties being competitive anymore .. hard to know where to even start .. id lkke to bite the bullet and see a two tier competition come in asap ..

Malachy has no interest in the Laois job.

People can be passionate about a county that werent necessarily born there

Let the county board interview the candidates .. just no mercenaries ..

Lets just get the best candidate for the job

Colm ORourke made some good points last night on the bigger picture.

Joe canning article was a good read too  ..

There has to be a tiered championship

Would take a while to bed in but we would wonder then why it wasnt always there.

Local man for the laois jod and a ten year plan to try and make us competitive again ..

Town you drag this forum into the gutter with this ongoing goading of Tony.
Everyone has different opinions ..
Can you not just make your point ONCE and leave it at that like other posters ..

The only thing we can all agree on is that Laois Football is a mess and will take a long time to remedy ..

I dont doubt towns a genuine laois gaa man but its always bits of info that are hard to make sence of.
Burke was much more specific but to be fair he had the right platform on which to bring it up.

Lets just hope this might be a bit of a watershed .. time will tell

Theres a bit of a difference saying lads were out drinking some random night and specifically stating 4 members of the first team were on the lash  a few nights before a match.

Creedons tenure is untenable now but the players have a lot to answer for too.
Being half committed at inter county nowadays wont cut it and youll be found out...
The platers are equally culpable.why bother at all if you're only half assed.

A clear out is needed from the top down.
Only lads willing to give it 100% need apply ..
Good to hear club delegates speak with passion. Gives you a bit of hope.
U17 performance too a bit heartening ..

Looking at the panel the following players are 30+

Timmons
Booth
Mcmahon
Strong
Meaney
Quigley
Begley ( i think)
Donaher
Conway
Walsh
Ross

thats 11 potential starters .. 8 starters (ross came on) booth was injured ..

We have been getting hiding at underage for a decade ..

So who replaces these players when 90% retire over the next 2 years

There is a some talent coming through but lets face it, it very limited

BallyroanAbu its clear you're a passionate Laois gaa man and i agree with a lot of your posts but i just dont
get your optimism about Clancy. I've no problem with him getting the job but like Tony said we've been in
a serious decline for 5+ years now . . i cant see Clancy having a major impact as they players aint there but
i'm open minded about who gets the job ..

we did seem tactically clueless all year and unfit so Creedon has to take his share of blame there .. It does appears that some players
are going through the motions this year, so maybe a bit of a clear out might help ...

We will get promoted as we are better than most of the teams down there although not much better than Carlow anymore

The crowds will be in the low hundreds next year meaning less money .. its a bit of a vicious circle now .. i guess we're reaping
what we sowed ..

The only way out of this mess is to get the underage structures right and slowly over a long period of time we will hopefully
drag ourselves up the divisions ..

I'm with high fielder we simply dont have any decent man markers. None. A half fit Timmons is the best we have.
Any decent attack will and have taken us to the cleaners. Clare have some nice forwards..
There is no one in Laois that wants a replay over the 7 subs .. That says it all

We should have enough to get promoted .. division 3 is probably our level .. Clare are a much better team that Laois at the moment and they  are
an average division 2 side so we definately aint a division 2 side anymore regardless whose in charge ..

As for Creedon he should probably go. Its been a disastrous year. The players just dont look fit. I think thats partly why there is so many
sending offs. Mis-timed tackles etc. We never looked like a team all year. Donie trying to do it on his own. Johnno plouging through the middle
Could another manager get them fit and motivated? i dunno ...
You get the feeling that a lot of them are just not willing to put in what is necessary to be competitive at inter county these days.
Question is if Creedon does go who would want it ..

i think there will be several retirements one way or the other.

A ten year plan needs to be put in place ..

Its the usual question Tony .. how much will we concede ?

Could easily score 2-12 ish but will it be enough ..
