I read this last year

http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/opinion/2011/0601/1224298206448.html
and got the book 2 weeks ago

Essentially the Irish state abandoned Moyross and Southhill and over 30 years a parallel society developed run according to the rules of prison.  Controlling a drugs cashflow of EUR 30 million per year a couple of families created a living hell for approx 3,000 people who sociologist Niamh hourigan calls "the disadvantaged of the disadvantaged". And a whole culture developed in parallel to the regular culture of Limerick. People living under the spell of the drugs culture in Moyross lived in an atmosphere of extreme  trauma - and it was only when 2 kids were almost burnt to death in a car by 3 teenagers from the other culture that the State did anything.

and it will cost EUR 3bn to fix.

Who the f**k  let that happen ?

MAJUMDER: COURT CLERK TRAWLED PORN SITES DURING RAPE TRIAL

CENTRAL LONDON; HARRINGAY, NORTH LONDON

A 'bored' court clerk who was caught watching porn by a judge during a rape trial has been spared jail.

Debasish Majumder, 54, sat casually viewing explicit online material while a sex attack victim gave evidence at Inner London Crown Court.

Judge Nigel Seed QC, sitting directly behind Majumder, spotted his clerk viewing what looked like cartoon images of farmyard animals but could not make out if the content was sexual.

Later, he was shocked to find a list of pornographic websites on Majumder's computer and decided enough was enough.

Man (64) in dock over lewd act with horse allegation

Monday April 30 2012
A 64-YEAR-OLD man accused of indecent behaviour with a horse has asked for a field belonging to a riding school to be examined as part of his defence.

Robert McLaughlin, of Sunnyside Drive in Maghera, is pleading not guilty to a charge of committing a lewd act by behaving in an indecent manner with a horse.

When the case was mentioned at Derry Crown Court, the court was told that council members of a horse riding club in Co Derry are to consider a legal request to have a field inspected by representatives of the defendant.

McLaughlin, who was arraigned at the Crown Court earlier this month, denies the charge of indecent behaviour with a horse on May 11 last year.

He is currently on bail awaiting his two-day trial which is due to start on May 30.

The case was mentioned by a prosecution barrister on Friday.

The case is to be mentioned again before Judge Piers Grant next Monday.
