With Anderson's reduced schedule I'd be surprised if he didn't fancy one last Ashes series.

Oh I'd say he'll definitely continue for that at least. He's still bowling very well.

History made by Jimmy Anderson with the final wicket of the series. Highest wicket taker in Test history. amazing achievement. Fair play to him. 4-1 probably harsh on India for the series. Very hard for away sides in Test cricket.

Although he has more wickets than McGrath he is a long way behind on average runs per wicket and will never narrow the gap which will probably widen as he manages more wickets against Sri Lanka. Most of Anderson's success has been gained on well prepared home wickets that suit him and Broad.

Anderson (McGrath)
Overs:   5250.0 (4874.4)

Average:   26.84   (21.64)
5 Wickets in Innings:   26   (29)
10 Wickets in Match:   3     (3)

So McGrath wouldnt have had any help when bowling in Aus then?!

Unlike many McGrath came to England and was equally successful he wasn't a home wicket bowler. Like many Australian bowlers he had pace and technique to take wickets on most pitches.

Telling point is the McGrath is he achieved more over fewer tests.

Morgan caught,  out for a big fat duck.

In the absence of any other big sporting events this weekend I'll get this going again

The Cricket World Cup began on Thursday, England who are rightly favourites opened with a routine win over the Saffers. Under English conditions it looks as though scoring isn't going to be as high as we are used to with teams already struggling.

The biggest sporting event that'll take place in the world this year (unless they meet in the final) is about to start.

India vs Pakistan.

tut - another north county dublin man, learnt it all there before Lesson St!

Good 30 min documentary about him on Sky Sports, where he went back to Rush to show where he grew up and learnt the game. Available on the On Demand service and they also put it on now and again on Sky Sports Cricket.

After a poor start with one-sided games followed by terrible weather the world cup has gone up a notch in the last week with several cliffhangers and upsets. England now not certain to make the semi finals in a tournament they are hosts in and favourites to win.

Engerland ( & North County Dublin) need to beat both NZ and India to progress.

Some pressure on now to stay in the competition.

One win will likely be enough
