The general feeling was that the team was allowed to stagnate under Connerton with younger players not getting game time and drifting away. Eugene McCormack was tasked with rebuilding and got them to the Leader Cup final last year and there were eyebrows raised elsewhere that he wasn't given another year. That said, they've been unlucky with draws in the championship for the last two years and but for Dromard getting a lucky late goal they might have gotten through this year.

Far too much being read into the Killoe/Dromard game - Killoe were already through and had an incentive to put their neighbours and friends in Slashers out of the competition.

I'm told one club manager has allegedly been promised a €10K bonus if the club succeed in winning the championship this year... Lots of money coming from America supposedly.

On a totally unrelated note, I'd just like to wish Abbey all the best tomorrow in a spirit of neighbourliness ;)

Surpise that Abbey best Killoe and they missing Robbie Smyth. Heard Abbey should have won by a mile.

Alot of disgruntled Killoes giving out after about money wasted. Surely not!

Big one this weekend as the juggernauts of Mostrim and Mullinalaghta clash.

Anything less than a hammering would be a surprise.

But you should never write off the champions  ::)

There are so many ways to plamas the losing team these days

""I wouldn't say we were cruising. As we've experienced in the last few years, no surprise there from Mostrim. My admiration has gone up for them ten-fold and to a man they stayed on the pitch at the end.

"Our lads are extremely fatigued from a fantastic battle."

"We were probably just ahead of them in efficiency terms. The collective ethos in that Mullinalaghta team is just a pleasure to watch.

"The players who didn't get game time must be disappointed, but they don't show it.
"You're never safe in a game, not against quality opposition. They can get a goal and the whole dynamic of the game can change. We pride ourselves on our technical skills coming out in the heat of battle.

"That's a very young Mostrim  team, they'll certainly be back."

Sorry, Shamrock, but that just stretches credibility too far - no-one looks forward to a semi-final against Dromard.
