General discussion / Tv / film spoilers
March 31, 2017, 02:03:15 PM
Thought we could use this thread to discuss tv / films we've seen , without spoiling them in recommendation threads.

Regarding death on a staircase I'm puzzled as to why there was a camera crew there ? Here's a murder grab  your camera? Did his defende team organize for it to documented and it just so happens there is many twist and turns like what happened in Germany?
Who thinks he was guilty ?

General discussion / what the hell do i say?
October 13, 2010, 01:59:18 PM
recently i was asked to describe someone, their most recognisable feature was that weren't black nor were they white, all i could think of was "half cast"... but knew that was politically correct, so i have been goggling political correctness,....

here are some examples...

The following list highlights words and phrases that can be substituted for the less respectful terms. If you think this is too much work, ask yourself, "If I were in the group being referred to, would I still feel this is too much work?"

Insensitive Words & Phrases                            Possible Alternatives

Black sheep                                             Outcast

"Guys" (when referring to a mixed group)     Friends; folks; group

Acting like wild Indians                             Out of control

Girls (when referring to coworkers)             Women

Manhole                                                     Utility hole

Gifted children                                             Advanced learners

Race    Ethnicity or nationality                          (There is only one race--human)

Uneducated (when referring to adults)             Lacking a formal education

No culture (when referring to parts                Lacking European culture
of the U.S. where the opera and
the theater
are scarce or nonexistent)

The little woman; the wife                          Your wife; his wife

"Don't go postal on me!"       No alternative; someone in your
audience  may have  relatives who  are postal workers

Old people    Seniors;             "Chronologically Advantaged"

Bitchy or "PMSing"            Assertive

"White" lie    Lie                    (Calling it white does not make it okay)

Flip chart                           Easel (Flip is a derogatory word referring to Filipinos)

Half-breed                       Multi-ethnic

Blacklisted                        Banned

"Manning" the project     Staffing the project

I should have used the word multi-ethnic.... i will know for again

the ones i have highlighted made me laugh, wonder if that makes me racist?

General discussion / Hooley in the Valley........
August 09, 2010, 11:50:26 AM

This year will see the festival take place from Thursday 12th August - Sunday 15th August. The programme has increased with the Hooley kicking off with a teenage disco on Thursday the 12th August.

The big country night of dancing remains on the Friday night with Ireland's number one Jimmy Buckley and his band on the 13th.

More Power To Your Elbow are back on the Saturday night by huge public demand. Sunday 15th sees the Monster Bingo moving to the afternoon and the festival will close on a high with a ceílí and old thyme dance in the evening.

The Festival programme has tried to ensure the entertainment on offer will suit a wide range of tastes and can surely claim to be a festival for all the community. A warm welcome awaits one and all at the 'Hooley In The Valley'.

The festival takes place at Augher Father Hackett Park!

*leenie inhales at the news* :)

Kerry boss Jack O'Connor will have to plan for this summer's Championship without All-Star defender Aidan O'Mahony.

The 27-year-old Rathmore clubman has decided to take a break from inter-county action due to 'personal issues'.

O'Mahony's decision to take time out from the Kingdom senior panel was confirmed on Tuesday evening on the Kerry GAA website by chairman Jerome Conway.

Conway stated: 'Aidan O'Mahony has taken time out from the Kerry senior football panel for personal reasons.'

Two-time All-Star winner O'Mahony has won four All-Ireland titles with the Kingdom and was named man of the match in the 2006 All-Ireland final when Kerry beat Mayo.

any idea of these personal reasons.....?

General discussion / MEN...
January 22, 2010, 04:55:23 PM
so its like this,

i was out last week and seen some fella's i know, one of these fella's has a girlfriend of 5 years... He wasn't best pleased to see us...and we weren't out locally... anyway was polite said hello and walked on.. another one of his mates came over talking to us but got summoned back by this guy.. we didn't care.. but afterwards we seen him and a random girl getting into taxi...

so obvious he was doing the dirt and had planned too and that was why he was shifty....

we haven't said anything 2 anyone as its not our place, however we know his girlfriend and it is so lousy...

imagine going out with someone for years only for them to be sniffing around other skirt....!
he's a tool wagon and doesn't surprise me but worse of all i'd say anytime soon he's going to produce the ring!

His buddies must know and see it as ok... i know if that was one of my female friends doing the same i would be raging with her and would encourage not too...

would men rather be "comrades"... and say nothing or would ya stand up...

do you tell your buddies when they are knobs?

what does doing the dirt gain ya... a bit a craic for a few hours and then what.... to jeopardize a relationship, to hurt someone... i dunno...

this could be one of many posts i write with regards to men! could write a book!
