A bridegroom in Turkey has accidentally killed three relatives while firing an AK-47 in celebration at his own wedding, Turkish media reported.

The groom lost control of the weapon as he tried to fire in traditional celebration in the air at the ceremony in the village of Akcagoze in south-eastern Gaziantep province.

The guests were sprayed with bullets and the groom's father and two aunts were killed.

The groom has been arrested.

The Anatolia news agency reported that eight other people were injured in the firing.

The three who died succumbed to their wounds in hospital.

Firing into the air is commonplace as a celebration in parts of Turkey and has on many occasions led to deaths and injuries.

Turkey has tried to impose harsher penalties but has not ended the practice.

Feckin Turkish government must think it's the GAA or something. Imagine trying to ruin people's enjoyment by interfering with the tradition of shooting each other at weddings.

Did anyone see the show last night about the two crazy Swedish twins who threw themselves in front of traffic on the M6??  Both somehow survived and the cops released the one with no serious injuries the nest day and the crazy bitch stabbed some poor sod to death.  She got 5yrs only!

Showed the footage last night of the mad bastards actually running into the oncoming traffic.

Yes. Takes reality TV to a new level.. Definitely one of the craziest bits of live recording Ive ever seen.. Just wondered about your man though.. Could you imagine yourself taking someone in like that?? Even his mate thought something was up.. Apparently it was one of the only cases where the person was "sane" for the trial, yet "insane" (for the want of a better word) for the murder.. And as you said got 5 years..Convenient that.. Must remember that one if i ever decide to pick off a few enemies.. . Some French term.. must Goggle it..
