There will be a decimal point in that figure by the time it is appealed.

QuoteA tradesman pulled over by police in a luxury sports car has more than $590m in the bank but is not "at liberty" to say how he got it, a Brisbane court has heard.

Phillip Johnathan Harrison was granted bail in the Brisbane magistrates' court on Saturday, a day after police pulled him over in an Audi sports car and found quantities of ice, Viagra and ecstasy.

The court heard the bricklayer and carpenter told officers he was worth $12bn and later explained to his lawyer he had been given the car by the government.

The duty lawyer Nick Hanly said he had asked the 29-year-old the origin of his significant net wealth, which he had apparently only come into in the past 12 months.

"He said he wasn't at liberty to say," Hanly told the court.

"At this point, I was considering getting mental health to come in."

But Hanly said Harrison then urged him to log on to his online banking account – which showed a cash balance of $596m ((£316m, $447m US) and a property portfolio of $1.56bn (£830,000, $1.17bn US).

Such a net worth would make the labourer wealthier than the likes of the Harvey Norman co-founder Gerry Harvey, the mining magnate Andrew Forrest and the property and construction king Lang Walker.

"I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes," Hanly said of his client's bank balance.

The court heard Harrison was an ice user.

The police prosecutor Sergeant Sean Francis suggested Harrison's passport be surrendered as a condition of bail, given his means could make him an increased flight risk.

The magistrate Anthony Gett agreed and also granted bail on the condition Harrison reside at a Tewantin address.

Harrison spoke outside court, saying his wealth came from profitable shares and from overseas sources. He said the money had nothing to do with drugs.

"How would I make billions in drugs without being caught? My investments, my ideas in cars, apps, trade, I sold them overseas, have been for years," he told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

The matter will return to court on April 18.

I'm quite sure there are many of the Northern Ireland players who are not sectarian. It does seem that you are however, which is disappointing.

No doubt there are many, if not most, of the Northern Ireland players who are not sectarian. Northern Ireland itself is sectarian, it was founded and continues to exist in order to promote sectarianism. Saying so is simple fact and only identifies the poster as realistic not sectarian.

Suggesting that 45% of the population want Northern Ireland to get hammered is not realistic, it's nonsense.

..'It has been argued by some people that the policy of partition always led to Civil War. It certainly did in India and Cyprus and Palestine and Ireland. This was no bad thing for Britain. It kept them busy and instead of fighting us they fought each other. This meant that it was no longer necessary to have a policy about them....'

Thats simplifying the matter greatly to be honest. If the alternative in both situations, Ireland and India, was to leave the country whole and let them sort it out amongst themselves it wouldn't have been pleasant. The UVF were armed to the teeth and the ensuing war between them and the ira could only have descended into a genocide. The simmering religious tensions in India would have also lead to murder and displacement of the minority in whatever region.

Partition was troublesome and was far from ideal but so me a solution that wasn't.
