I can see the logic in that though Count. If a person abuses a kid then they scar them for life and deserve any punishment they get. Of course it's right that child porn is illegal but I think probation and being named and shamed is punishment enough for these guys if they don't take their fantasies into the real world. I know there's the arguement that these guys create the demand that leads to kids being abused, so they should be punished in some way but I don't see the need for him to be locked up. Just my opinion. And I know that sticking up for paedos won't make me too popular ha ha. You never see any politician with that as part of his campaign manifesto - Vote Smyth #1 - better rights for paedos.

Rossnowlagh at the weekend.

WTF are Donegal County Council up to? I've never seen anything like this, anywhere! Complete and utter disgrace. Apparently several young kids went "missing" too. Emergency services were called. They were eventually found on the beach.

Blanket defence reaches new levels!!

Dont know the place, but looking at the picture if the tide was coming in at any rate at all I wouldn't like to rely on the 200 other drivers to get a move on out of my way. No way would I leave my car on that beach.

Funny enough my youngest brother was up there that day and spent two hours pushing cars that got stuck in the sand. He said it was very dodgy with the tide coming in towards the end.

Personally hate that beach, ended up going there one day last year with the kids as Murvagh down the road was completely blocked up. Anyway, some day a wee kid is going to be killed at Rosnowlagh with the amount of dickheads who where flying up the beach at about 45mph then doing doughnuts with children playing about 30ft away. Not a Guard to be seen the whole day, there should be a patrol there all day on weekends when the weather is forecast to be very warm.

From today's Irish Times

Punter dials 999 to complain about prostitute's looks
Caller wished to report woman for breaching Sale of Goods Act

A man has been warned by police in Britain after he dialled 999 to complain about a prostitute's looks after meeting her outside a hotel.
West Midlands Police said they were contacted by the caller who said he "wished to report her for breaching the Sale of Goods Act".
An officer in the call centre at Solihull, Birmingham, responded by telling the man the woman had not committed any offences and explained to him that soliciting for sex was illegal.
The force has now sent the man a letter warning him about wasting police time. A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A 999 call was received by police at around 7:30pm on Tuesday evening from a man wishing to complain about a sex worker he had met on a hotel car park.
"The caller claimed that the woman had made out she was better looking than she actually was and he wished to report her for breaching the Sale of Goods Act.
"When he raised this issue with the woman concerned, she allegedly took his car keys, ran away from the car and threw them back at him, prompting him to call police.
"An officer in the Solihull contact centre advised the caller that no offences had been committed by the woman and that soliciting for sex was in fact illegal." He added: "Despite the man refusing to give his details, police have been able to identify him and have sent him a letter warning him about his actions.
"Wasting police time is a serious offence and carries a maximum sentence of six months imprisonment."
The Sale of Goods Act 1979 gives consumers legal rights, stipulating goods which are sold must be of satisfactory quality, be fit for purpose and must match the sellers' description.

That's a funny story and one can certainly empathise with the caller but I wonder how does this go from being a police matter to being in the newspapers without a court case. I'm not questioning the truth of it, just curious as to how the press got hold of it.

Went to see Rosnowlagh the once having heard so much about the place. As beaches go it is......... erm just a beach with some caravans and holiday homes near it . Hundreds of nicer beaches than it in the country and probably in Donegal itself alone.

Five mile up the coast towards Donegal town, follow the signs to Murvagh beach. Far better than Rosnowlagh and not a car to be seen on the sand.

The surf at it is fabulous though which can't be said for all Donegal beaches.  And for families it is a great place as there's dick all "bad stuff" that kids could get involved in.  It is a proper beach location but (thankfully) not set up for anything other than the beach and related activities.
I can see why people would think it boring but I'm not one of those, probably due to memories of summer holidays spent down there.

Its a good spot for families who like the outdoor lifestyle and don't to play slots or want their kids to play them either ... so its not for everyone

It's a lot easier to sing karaoke than to sing opera

Fair enough. Tbh I was comparing it to some of the beaches on the Dingle peninsula,Connemara or North Donegal and it was never going to come out well.
Didn't mean to slag it off but just saying I was "disappointed" by Rossnowlagh given I had heard so much about it beforehand.

Imvho of course.
